Special Screening of Waves For Water

Sunshine Cinema presents a free screening of a compelling documentary!

Want a cinema experience that’s eco-friendly too? Well Sunshine Cinema has exactly the answer to that! Make your way to the Blue Bird Garage Food and Goods Market in Muizenberg on Sunday, 19 February 2017, to catch a free special solar-powered screening of a documentary called Waves For Water.

Sunshine Cinema is a solar-powered mobile cinema that converts solar energy into social impact. They take compelling and carefully curated content to a diverse array of communities across Southern Africa and beyond.

Waves For Water follows professional surfer, Jon Rose, around the world as he works to bring clean drinking water to remote, poverty-stricken parts of Haiti, the Philippines and Brazil. You will witness emotional and personal interviews from the pro surfer and those close to him detailing the surprising events that lead the athlete to becoming a full-time humanitarian. The documentary will also depict the transformation of how a grassroots organisation has grown from a once-off surf trip in Sumatra to an international NGO with brand partners like Paypal and BMW.

The documentary stars Jon Rose alongside the likes of Hollywood superstars, Rosario Dawson and Patricia Arquette.
