So, we’ve all heard of the tried, tested and always fantastic buy-one-get-one-free special, but now the Stardust restaurant in Woodstock is offering a six-for-four deal on selected shooters. And while this would be great on any day of the week, this ‘home of the singing waiter’ offers the top-notch bargain every night from 10pm onwards!
Though it moved to a new location on a corner in the hip Cape Town area of Woodstock in late 2013, the eatery has been around for over decade and pioneered the theatrical dining experience in South Africa. What this means, of course, is that the restaurant’s waiters double up as the evening’s entertainment, covering hits (and very capably we might add) by the likes of Beyoncé, Adele, Miriam Makeba and many, many more.
The performances usually start at around 8pm and go well over midnight, and by the end of the night, patrons are usually dancing on the now reinforced tables thanks to the energetic vibe created by the performers and probably a couple of those four-for-six shooter deals.
“I get offended when people don’t stay past midnight. If they don’t stay, I feel as though I did something wrong,” says owner Lionel Liepaz.
Shooter special options at Stardust include Brazilian Kisses, Liquid Cocaine, Liquid Panty Remover and Olmeca Black.
Needless to say, be sure to line your stomach with a hearty meal from the the Woodstock-based eatery’s North African and Mediterranean-inspired menu. Think lamb, beef and seafood tagine, pan-seared Norwegian salmon, lamb shank and a number of other tasty dishes.
The fully stocked bar also caters for all budgets, from shoestring to big spender, and it goes without saying that the wallet-friendly shooter special won’t break the bank – it’s the perfect way to end your evening on a high note. Be sure to check out the quirky bar stools as they are the back ends of recycled Vespas!
