Salsa New Year's Party in Cape Town
The hottest New Year's 2009 salsa dance party!
Join the complement of Cape Town salsa teachers, schools, studios and dancers at what will be a sizzling hot salsa party in Cape Town for the New Year.
This party will happen on 2 January 2009 since a slave's only day off in 8th-century South Africa was on January 2, and so it's on Tweede Nuwe Jaar (Second New Year) that Cape Town parties the hardest.
It was customary for the slaves at the Cape to transform the day into a day of celebration, merriment, feasting, visiting with friends, wearing fanciful attire, and, of course, revelling in music and dance.
You don't have to be an ethnomusicologist to appreciate the cross-cultural similarities between the Caribbean and the Cape ...so bring everyone you know and enjoy some high-paced salsa partying!
