Yes, mischu is where coffee lovers gather for a daily dose of the city’s best brew (it’s won Best Coffee in Cape Town three years in a row). But did you know they make great lunches too, and that they have a full in-house bakery? Here are 5 reasons to lunch at mischu.

1. DAILY LUNCH SPECIAL

Where else in Sea Point can you have lunch for under R100? The R99 daily deal at mischu (weekends too) is avocado salsa, kale and feta on homemade sourdough, with a cappuccino. And you can order it up until 3pm.

Beyond the special, mains like the Mediterranean sandwich (grilled aubergine, hummus, zaatar, tomatoes, and fresh baby spinach) and the pulled beef bowl (with quinoa, broccoli, roasted aubergine and carrots) are just a few of the nutritious options on the menu.

2. CAPE TOWN’S BEST COFFEE

The star of the show at mischu is the Isabella blend, made from 100% Arabica beans from Brazil, Guatemala, and Costa Rica. 

This coffee has been crowned the best in Cape Town not once, but three years in a row. With a smooth, mild acidity and an aftertaste of dark chocolate and roasted hazelnuts, it’s taken home titles like Best Cappuccino in South Africa and the Best Espresso in Cape Town.

3. FULL IN-HOUSE BAKERY 

Sweet treats are a must at mischu. Their bakery has cool desserts like the crookie. A croissant covered in cookie batter, which blew up on Instagram and TikTok, is one of mischu’s most-talked-about creations.

Just as delicious are the cube-shaped croissants, which offer a modern twist on the classic French pastry. Each has rich fillings like pistachio (the bestseller), raspberry, and chocolate and hazelnut.

4. EASY REMOTE WORKING SPOT

If you’re looking for somewhere to work remotely, with wholesome lunches and fast wifi, you’ve found it. The large windows overlooking Regent Road offer a great backdrop for people-watching during breaks and let in plenty of natural light. 

Inside, the two-seaters are ideal for solo work sessions, and the ample plug points mean you can stay charged throughout the day. 

You’re also perfectly positioned to venture out to the promenade for a post-work walk (or Mojo Market).

5. MAKE MISCHU COFFEE AT HOME 

After lunch, you can grab beans, ground coffee and pods to take home. There are also instant powders like spicy chai and rich hot chocolates.
