Overnight Safari at Aquila Game Reserve
Enjoy the outdoors with this Aquila Game Reserve special offer
About two hours away from the hustle and bustle of the Mother City, Aquila Game Reserve offers an exclusive experience of the Big Five, serenity of the Klein Karoo and the revitalizing effects of the private Tranquila Spa.
Aquila Game Reserve is known for its all-encompassing full day and half day safari tours. With the full day tours, visitors have the option of either choosing a morning safari, which starts off with welcome drinks on arrival. These complimentary beverages range from sparkling wine or grape juice, to tea and coffee, whatever tickles your fancy. Aquila allows all guests who are booking in on that particular day to get better acquainted, making for a better overnight experience which definitely filters through to every activity and communal space.
From welcome drinks, guests will move on to the buffet lunch which takes place at the thatched triple volume halaal restaurant. Seating 300 guests, this large wall-to-ceiling windowed restaurant, affords guests the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent views of the 10 000-hectare stretch, with mind-blowing views of the Karoo mountains, while indulging in the locally inspired buffet-style lunch.
Once tummies are filled, off you go on your afternoon safari day tour where the king of the jungle and the rest of the Big Five await. Guided by informative and charismatic game rangers, the safari is definitely worth every bump on the gravel road. These late afternoon safaris are magical, as guests have the privilege of seeing some of the most majestic animals in their natural spaces.
Tip: Take along some of your warmer items of clothing if you’re planning on visiting Aquila during the colder months. Even if the days are warm, expect a chilly safari drive as the open 4x4 causes for a drafty drive if you’re not covered up enough.
After being up close and personal with the African wildlife, get ready for a buffet dinner experience, prepared by the locals of the area. The full buffet caters to all dietary requirements; from halaal to vegetarian, carnivores and everything in-between!
After dinner, Aquila offers star gazing and marshmallow melting down in a huge pit, where guests can get to know one another a bit better, or couples can cuddle under the stars. For those who would prefer to be indoors after dark, Aquila also offers a cigar lounge, with a warm fireplace, smoking area, with a range of selected cigars and night caps on offer. After the bumpy safari ride, you may want to unwind and just take a minute (or sixty) to relax the muscles in your body. The Tranquila Spa is a private luxury experience, offering various treatments and facilities to truly let go of unwanted stress or jet lag.
After your chosen post-dinner activity, be sure to get to bed at a good time, because just before the sun rises, your next game drive is on the agenda.
With the animals roaming around as they wish, Aquila cannot guarantee that all the animals will be spotted at the first game drive. With the overnight safari, an additional opportunity is afforded, with the safari taking place in the early hours of the morning, when the animals are more active. Thereafter, guests can enjoy a hearty, wholesome buffet breakfast, before packing up and checking out!
Keep an eye out at breakfast, as the hippos are known to wander off to the dams at the dusk of dawn!
