Weekend long Jazz festival

Friday 23 – Sunday 25 March sees the Muizenberg Afro Jazz Festival taking place at the Melting Pot. The festival shows off some of South Africa’s jazz talent at an intimate venue. The Melting Pot is a vibrant venue, in the heart of the ‘old village’, much loved for bringing out awesome jazz, folk and comedic acts the Southern Peninusala has to offer.

From March 23rd till March 25th, the quiet, tranquility of the Muizenberg Village, and its environs will reverberate with the sounds and rhythms of some of our Nation`s greatest jazz performers. The Spencer Mbadu Trio, featuring Charles Louw on Piano and Carlo Fabe on Drums with Spencer on Bass and vocals.

Spencer is considered one of the top jazz musicians in our country. He has played all over the world and brings a unique intimate story telling experience through his music and word. The Darren English Quintet features five outstanding individual musicians, Umthwakazi Collective consists of seven musicians fusing African harmonics with the pure pleasure of listening to the jazzy rhythms, Khoitrans is an eight piece dance "Troop" band with members between 14 and 72, The Tribe of Benjamin is led by Benjamin Jephta and has performed at the International Jazz Festival in Cape Town.

Janine "Blaq" Pearl is considered a scoop for the festival and her rendition of Jazz will simply entrance you and to top it all we have the foot stomping, swinging, Gypsy Jazz of the dynamic Nomadic Orchestra, this amazing ensemble includes a Tuba, Saxophone, Trumpet, Drums and guitar and will get everyone dancing. Expect to have lots of fun and both venues offer an intimacy seldom seen in live music performances any more.

Friday 23 March - The Melting Pot Social Club - starts 9pm
Spencer Mbadu Trio featuring Charles Louw and Carlo Fabe and Khoitrans Troop a dynamic eight piece "Originals Only" band.

Saturday 24 March - The Melting Pot Social Club - starts 9pm
Tribe of Benjamin and Umthwakazi.

Sunday 25 March Blue Bird Garage - starts 11am
