Thembalitsha Foundation |
The Paul Cluver Summer Festival Programme draws the curtains of its charming Elgin amphitheatre to a dramatic season’s close with its second annual Kid’s Theatre Festival on Saturday, 28 March 2015 in support of the Thembalitsha Foundation. The fun and fantastical family day out invites parents and little ones to not only support a good cause, but to celebrate the weekend before school holidays with an afternoon filled with lovable kid-friendly performances and activities.
Headline play and Roald Dahl’s iconic tale Fantastic Mr Fox returns to the stage to entertain fans with the antics of three farmers, Boggis, Bunce and Bean (one fat, one short, one lean), who are hell-bent on getting rid of the conniving fox who steals from their land to support his family.
Before the hilarious main event though, new additions to the bill, Get Kraken and Memory, will bring their own brand of award-winning interactive theatre to the fore. Both Jon Keevy’s underwater adventure (Get Kraken) and Nicholas Ellenbogen’s combination of mime, traditional African storytelling and dance (Memory) picked up honours at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival.
Not to mention, in between performances, kids can count on going cuckoo in the jumping castle, getting their own version of ‘wardrobe’ at the face painter, ogling the balloon blower and channelling their creativity at the colouring-in station.
And as always, Paul Cluver will have plenty of food, like pizza and sushi, on sale as well as ice cold wine and beer (for the adults). Though, visitors are also invited to make the most of this memorable experience by taking along their own picnic – keep in mind no alcoholic beverages brought from home are allowed.
Otherwise, don’t forget the blankets and cushions (fold-up chairs and tables are not allowed) as well as something warm for the cooler summer evening.
TICKETS & SHOW TIMES FOR THE 2015 KID’S THEATRE FESTIVAL AT PAUL CLUVER
Tickets are limited to a count of 600 and are available via Computicket.com and Computicket outlets for R150p/p (children under 3 get in for free). Be aware that there are no ticket pick-ups on the day at the gate, so tickets must be collected at Computicket outlets before the event.
Seats are unreserved, so get there early to snatch up the best spots. Fold-up chairs, tables and prams are not permitted in the arena.
Wine glasses will also be on sale at the venue at R25 each, and additional drinks and food will for patrons’ own account.
Gates open at 11am and the show starts at 12pm come rain or shine (so, come prepared), and refunds will not be issued. The event will end around 5pm. Show times are as follows:
