Ihlombe! South African Choral Music Festival

Enjoy a harmony of voices at this global fiesta of sound

Classical Movements, the company that brought the George Washington University Singers to the Mother City, is billed to import international choirs to sing alongside local ensembles at the fifth annual Ihlombe! South African Choral Music Festival from Saturday, 6 July to Friday, 19 July 2013.

Touted as the largest international harmonic assembly in South Africa, this two week-long series of concerts features 6 international choirs – performers hail from Trinidad and Tobago, the United States of America, Canada and Australia – and 14 local choral groups whose voices will resonate at 9 performances in the Western Cape and Gauteng.

The concerts offer South Africans a chance to experience local and international talent on a single platform, and it gives the choirs a go at performing outside of their usual areas.

Furthermore, aside from the obvious highlight for audiophiles, the choirs all benefit thanks to a range of workshops that offer the opportunity for cultural exchange.
