Missing some sultry hip-hop beats and rooftop night-time vibes? The folks at Waiting Room have got you covered with a slammin’ gig hosted by home-grown hip-hop talent, DJs Azuhl and Raiko, on Monday, 15 December 2014.
From hard-hitting lyrics to hip-hop classics that fans all know and love, these two DJs promise to bring the heat to the dance floor on the eve of Reconciliation Day (the following day is a public holiday).
Both Azuhl and Raiko are stalwarts in the hip-hop scene and are known for their mad mixing and scratching skills behind the tables. Raiko currently resides in Johannesburg and has returned to the Mother City for this one-night-only showdown. Getting his start in the 90s and with a background in organising events for over 10 years within the Cape Town hip-hop scene, Raiko is well known for hard-hitting mixes laced with sick 90s beats that get the party bumpin’.
DJ Azuhl (known as Ricardo Nunes) has been involved with the Mother City’s music scene since the mid 80s. He started out as a player in the dancing arena and then eventually got behind the mic with some of Cape Town’s finest, from hip-hop group Brasse Vannie Kaap to the Beat Bangaz (with DJs Ready D and E-20). For those not in the know, Azuhl is part of the team behind the ‘Classics’ old school hip-hop series that sounds off at The Assembly.
Attendees can also look out for giveaways from local clothing brand The Kartal on the night and can be sure to see some cool visuals courtesy of DJ Azuhl during his set.
So if you’re a hip-hop head down for bumping your head to some hard-hitting lyrics and thumping beats, then this one-night showdown is right up your alley.
TICKETS FOR AZUHL & RAIKO AT THE WAITING ROOM
Entry to the event costs R30p/p before 10pm and R40p/p thereafter. Please note that no under-18s will be allowed. Doors open at the Waiting Room at 9pm.
