Danny, Sandy, Kenicke, Rizzo, The T Birds and the Pink Ladies in an all-South African cast production of this celebrated party show, bringing audiences a show packed with songs we all know and love.
Pieter Toerien has announced that Grease is coming to our shores and will feature an all South African cast, starting rehearsals in early 2010. It is being presented by Pieter Toerien, Paul Nicholas and David Ian, by arrangement with Robert Stigwood. Performances will begin at the Artscape Opera on 6 March and at The Teatro Montecasino in Johannesburg on 17 April.
It's the original high school musical and features all the unforgettable songs from the movie, including You're The One That I Want; Grease Is The Word; Summer Nights; Hopelessly Devoted To You; Sandy; and Greased Lightnin'.
Since breaking out on Broadway in 1972, Grease’s place has been firmly established in the cultural Hall of Fame, having seduced the hearts of millions with its back-to-back sizzling tunes.
Voted the 'No 1 Greatest Musical', Grease has proved that a musical love story bursting with denim, cheerleaders, slick hairstyles, rock’n’roll, teenage angst, and young romance is timeless and universal.
The last international tour of Grease was a phenomenal success, playing to sell-out audiences and smashing records at many venues around the globe. Since 1993 (when this version opened on the West End) the show has been seen by audiences totalling over nine million people in the UK alone. Grease is now in its second great sell-out year at London's Piccadilly Theatre.
