Free Comic Book Day is a global event that takes place on Saturday, 2 May 2015 and will be celebrated in Cape Town at the Readers Den Comic Shop at Claremont’s Stadium on Main shopping centre.

While comics may once have been the preserve of the ‘stereotypical’ nerds you’ve seen on shows like The Big Bang Theory, things have definitely changed since then. These days, comic books are cool, seriously cool. So if you pull through to this fair, expect to see plenty of people, all getting their inner Superman or Wonder Woman on.
This is the 14th successive year that Readers Den has hosted the comic con-style expo, which attracts over 3 000 fans, geeks, artists, cosplayers, vendors and exhibitors.
Fans will be able to meet and greet their favourite local comic book artists, bag a few of their most loved comics at discounted rates, pick up geek and pop culture merchandise, enter a lucky draw, get their costume on for the cosplay masquerade, enjoy various live acts, take in a comic art exhibition and a Star Wars comics mini exhibition, play console games and indulge in plenty of other geeky treats.
