Join participating regional and international producers for a two day lifestyle festival celebrating the freshness of the 'wild white' grape, Sauvignon Blanc and its notorious compatibility with food.
These festivities - organised by Jörg Pfützner of Fine Wine Events - aim to manifest in the minds of Sauvignon Blanc drinkers its food compatibility match, as well as uncovering how South Africa truly fairs in the international context of Sauvignon Blanc.
'Constantia Fresh' features a total of four palate-stimulating events taking place on the 26th and 27th February 2010. Participating Constantia producers are Constantia Uitsig, Klein Constantia, Groot Constantia, Steenberg, Eagle’s Nest, with the last event ending in an afternoon outdoor food and wine exhibition at Buitenverwachting.
Pfützner has extended the invitation to a handful of Loire and New Zealand producers as well as specific top Sauvignon Blanc producers - Elgin, Durbanville, Stellenbosch, Hemel en Aarde, Cederberg, Robertson and the Cape Point - to complete the regional and international attraction of the two day festivities in the same vein as the Riesling Festival’s food and wine pairing exhibition which was held in Cape Town in February 2009.
Some of South Africa’s top culinary names will appear at this festival: Peter Tempelhoff of Cellars-Hohenort, Bertus Basson of Overture, Garth Almazan of Catharina’s at Steenberg, Roland Gorgosilich of Bosman’s at Grande Roche Hotel and Edgar Osojnik of Buitenverwachting.
Constantia Fresh Festival Program:
26 February - International Sauvignon Blanc Tasting and Fine Dining at award winning restaurant La Colombe
27 February - International Red Wine Tasting and Sauvignon Blanc and food pairing Exhibition
