Plus markets, fun runs and youth-led conversations (June 16)
This February, in honour of Valentine’s Day, the Artscape Theatre will host the romantic drama-comedy, aptly named, “February 14th” from Tuesday, 5 to Sunday, 16 February 2013.
Presented by Vulture Productions in conjunction with Shoestring Studios, Lindt and Sir Juice, the play’s humorous plot revolves around 11 characters and their loves, loathes and lives. More specifically, directed by Jeremeo le Cordeur, the performance investigates the meaning of Valentine’s Day through a series of snippets.
What’s more, this fresh 90-minute production demonstrates how various individuals approach relationships and love and how the challenges of life affect the smitten. The characters act out a handful of heartfelt vignettes that will be familiar to most, from a girl who’s boyfriend is about to pop the question and a husband cheating on his wife to a love-struck teenage boy with his first crush to a man who is desperately seeking true love.
The play is billed as “more-or-less a love story”, and as much as it pays homage to Valentine’s Day, the show also aims to inspire audiences to re-evaluate their relationships, affairs and loves with an open mind and heart.
Tickets for the February 14th Play at the Artscape Theatre
