Family Vibes And Live Music At A Stellenbosch Market
The kids can play all day in a supervised toddlers’ area while you try chocolate shots and check out the food, craft stalls and acoustic music on the lawns
Bring your brollies and blankies and make a day of it with the whole family at the Saturday Market. The market takes place on the lawns of Stellenbosch Vineyards on Saturday 2 March from 9am to 3pm.
Live music is part of the set-up and the market has hosted Idols finalists, and other local artists such as Gareth James, Mark Haze and Chris Rain. Live music performances happen from 11am to 2pm.
WATCH: GARETH JAMES
Situated on Stellenbosch’s Welmoed Farm on an open stretch of lawn, there is ample space to stroll through the stalls. Sit back beneath an umbrella on a hay bail, or bring your own brollies and blankies, relax and enjoy a day out in the winelands. There are tables and chairs outside the restaurant area.
Face painting, epic jumping castles and plenty more to keep the kids entertained so parents can shop, relax and drink some award-winning wine in peace knowing their children are being kept busy. There are two children's sections: one for bigger children and a supervised area for toddlers. These sections also don’t disturb the market or live entertainment, so the childless won’t be affected.
FOOD AND DRINKS
There’s delicious food such as burgers, deli foods, breads, cake and ice-cream to eat on premises or to take away. Wine is available by the glass or bottle and there are some other unusual options too. Have you ever tried a chocolate shot glass?
THE BUS STOPS HERE
The Bus Stop is a new casual eatery and bar centred around a yellow 1980 Bedford Bus at Stellenbosch Vineyards. In the market area, there’s a man-made island on an open dam. The bus is located on the island and you can reach it via the bridge. At The Bus Stop you can enjoy pizzas, burgers, salads and waffles and drink craft draught beer and wine while sitting outside on vintage-style revamped bus seats.
Browse stalls selling unique crafts such as jewellery, handmade furniture, gemstones, “barefoot sandals”, colourful hair dye, clothes, bags, shoes and more.
