Mountain biking aficionados will be able to satisfy their adventure cravings once again at this years Fairtree Simonsberg Contour two-day mountain bike stage race on Saturday, 3 and Sunday, 4 February 2018. The two-day event will see riders setting off and ending the race at Delvera Farm on the R44.
Take your pick of a long or short route on both days, with the option to take on just one day’s challenge or push yourself and tackle both. On Saturday the long route covers a distance of 55km while the shorter route is 42km. On Sunday the longer route will have you in the saddle for 58km and the shorter for 41km.
The region makes for ideal mountain biking, with over 25km of the route on single-track connecting more than 10 wine estates. Currently in recovery from a fire, the Simonsberg mountains is in a spectacular floral state, and ready to blow riders away with its diversity.
Each rider will receive a goody bag, a tasty breakfast snack, coffee as well as lunch daily. The cost of entry also includes use of the showers, a bike park, a bike wash station. What’s more, a massage service will be available for riders in need of pampering after a tough race. Take note that you’ll need to book your recovery massage ahead of the time directly with Livwell Therapy at livwelltherapy@gmail.com.
There'll also be fully stocked refreshment stations with BOS hydration and an entertainment area for the kids.
Note: In order to ride in the first group, you will need a valid Cycling South Africa (CSA) membership/licence. There will be no day license fees applicable to those who do not wish to start in first groups.
