Bring your family along for this great opportunity to work out, relax in the moonlight and raise money for the Durbanville Children’s Home at their Full Moon Trail Run, Hike and MTB Ride at the stunning Meerendal Wine Estate. The run will take place at 6:30pm on Wednesday, 20 July 2016 and registration opens at 4:30pm.
Join the wonderful people of the Durbanville Children’s Home for a 7 km trail run, 4 km hike and 14 km mountain bike ride under the full moon at the Meerendal Wine Estate. The estate is situated in the Durbanville Hills and has a charity night once every month that allows different organisations to host fundraisers at their venue.
The Durbanville Children’s Home is a shelter that houses children from underprivileged backgrounds between the ages of two and 18 years. Their mission is to provide a support system for families across the Western Cape who have been victims of poverty, alcohol abuse, violence and the many tragedies that South Africans face as a result of economic inequality. The Home currently houses 144 children, most of whom are under the age of 15.
Since the run takes place in the middle of winter it’ll be quite chilly as the night gets darker, so don’t forget to wear something warm and bring along a torch or head light to help you see better in the dark. Marshals will be posted at various intervals to guide participants along the route. This event is open to the entire family but please leave your furry friends at home – pets are unfortunately not allowed at the venue.
REGISTRATION FOR THE DURBANVILLE CHILDREN’S HOME FULL MOON TRAIL RUN, HIKE AND MTB RIDE
The run and hike will both commence at 6:30pm while the MTB ride starts at 7pm. Due to the overlapping start times, participants will only be allowed to compete in one of the three activities – so pick the one that suits you best! Registration will open at 4:30pm and costs R50p/p, and each participant will be given a yummy boerewors roll after the race. Registration can only be done at the event. Be sure to get there early enough to set up your picnic spot and get to know some of the runners before the event starts.
