Whether you’re looking to add some Don Jon to your date night or celebrate your 40th with Sixteen Candles, The Twelve Apostles Hotel’s dinner and a movie experience is just the thing to liven up a tired, old take on a romantic couple’s evening or the bog-standard special occasion celebration.

The food and film package invites Romeos and Juliets, the equivalent of The First Wives Club and anyone else with a love for fine cuisine and the silver screen to come indulge in a three-course meal at the storied Azure Restaurant and a flick in the property’s darling 16-seater cinema.

Included in the deal (oh yes, the price is surprisingly reasonable) are all the quintessential movie house trimmings, like popcorn, milkshakes, sweeties and even hot chocolate.

Though, because the team at Azure prides itself as much on its personalised service as it does on its culinary flair, you can even have dessert delivered to you in the intimate, little theatre. Or if you’d prefer, you can return to the eatery after the film for your third and final course.

The five-star eatery offers a pared-down version of its main menu, but there’s still plenty to choose from (read more about Azure’s cuisine). And as always, guests can anticipate flawless service, an on-the-money sommelier and an unrivalled view of the sparkling Atlantic. 

On the other hand, the movie line-up –it’s viewable on The Twelve Apostles website – changes monthly and includes everything from sci-fi thrillers and golden oldies to dark comedy and animation. So, even the most hard-nosed critic should be able to find something to their liking. Though, if you’re the type who only watches foreign films made by European auteurs born in the 60s, rather rent out the whole cinema for yourself. The same goes for hen or birthday party organisers – why not take the movie house on a private basis; the hotel will even let you bring your own flick.

The film and food package costs R475p/p and includes the three-course meal (drinks excluded), entry to the movie theatre and complimentary cinema snacks.

Film screenings are scheduled for 5:30pm, 8:30pm and 10:30pm; when you make your reservation, an Azure team member can advise you as to what time you should plan on arriving for dinner.
