You’ll be clinging to the edge of your seat throughout this emotional performance that deals with fame and a high-profile rape case. Court. hits the Alexander Upstairs Theatre stage on Monday, 4 July and runs until Saturday, 16 July 2016.
On the surface, the main character, ‘Tawny’, leads a normal life. However, 22 years ago she was “the girl” in a high-profile celebrity rape case. The gripping show follows the narrative of how she is torn between avoiding a story she doesn’t want to recall, and the relentless pursuit from the world’s media who want to get all the details for their next scoop. Court. delves into the mutability of victimhood, truth and narrative, and although it is a fictional story, the events are inspired by a true scenario.
Tawny is played by two globally acclaimed actresses; Candice van Litsenborgh and Claire-Louise Worby. Candice has been nominated for the Fleur Du Cap and Naledi awards in the past, and was announced as the winner of the 2015 Broadway World Best Actress in a musical. She wrote this enthralling drama performance, making it her first full-length original script. Claire-Louise Worby hails from Santa Fe and has travelled the world performing on stages and film sets. Court. will be her debut performance on a South African stage.
Directed by Richard Wright-Firth, this performance will evoke intense emotions and is sure to have you captivated from start to finish. Grab your drama-loving friends and book tickets soon to avoid disappointment.
