Cape Town Festival 2008

As per tradition the Cape Town Festival is back again, celebrating the diversity of the Mother City

The festival was initiated in 1999 as part of the One City Many Cultures project by the festival’s chairperson, Ryland Fisher, when he was editor of the Cape Times.

Cape Town Festival will be celebrating its ninth anniversary this year and the board of the festival has taken some very exciting decisions with regards to the future of the festival.

The 2009 edition of the Festival will start on Friday 25 April and end on Monday 28 April. Most of the Festival events will take place in the Company Gardens precinct.

There will be some new events this year, including a Unity March on Saturday 26 April, as well as repeating some of the popular events such as the Street Festival (where we close off Long Street for great events) and the World’s Biggest Koeksister event.

The Cape Town Festival will include concerts over three days, the popular Festival Imbizos or Cultural Talks, diverse foods representing different religions and cultures, and a range of activities targeting youth.
