Prepare to raise your lighter and sing along to your favourite Bryan Adams songs, because the Canadian pop-rock icon is coming to Cape Town on Tuesday, 28 January 2014 to perform at GrandWest as part of his Bare Bones World Tour.
With an unbelievable career spanning three decades and countless number one singles to his name, the blue-eyed, raspy-voiced singer is celebrated as one of the greatest songwriters in history, and local fans will get to hear his memorable tunes at their acoustic finest. The Bare Bones tour is a completely stripped down, unplugged experience, so groupies can look forward to a more intimate show sans the backing band, fancy set and distracting computerized lighting. Instead, the superstar’s well-known hits - plus a few new tracks – take centre stage.
Adams is probably one of the most successful acts to come out of Canada and has the award nominations to prove it – he’s been put forward at the Grammys, Golden Globes, Oscars, American Music Awards and the Canadian Juno Awards. Thought it seems like he’s been the eternal soundtrack for many a memory, with hits like ‘Summer of 69’, ‘18 ‘til I Die’ and ‘Run to You’, the rock singer-songwriter only broke out into the mainstream with his third album, Waking Up the Neighbours (1991).
The multi-platinum selling record featured the song ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It for You’, which was on the soundtrack for the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and spent 16 consecutive weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart. In fact, Adams is a bit of a film soundtrack guru, with other hits, like ‘All for Love’ (Three Musketeers), ‘Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman’ (Don Juan DeMarco) and ‘Here I Am’ (Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron), appearing in major motion pictures.
Aside for his writing talents, Adams is known to be a lively, energetic performer on stage, and there’s no doubt that Mzansi audiences will be blown away by this legendary rock god’s amazing acoustic concert. In short, be prepared to be supremely entertained.
