Writer’s Bench Productions proposes an alternative answer to the humdrum of Cape Town’s nightlife in the form of its off-the-hook jol: Boogie Boutique. Once a month, on the last Saturday, the unique lifestyle and music experience transforms the Bree Street Studios in the city centre into a party space of note. This month’s hipper-than-hip shindig happens on Saturday, 28 September 2013 from 2pm.

Since launching its successful inaugural event in March 2013, the lifestyle jol has been making serious headway in changing the face of partying. Whether you need to bust some crazy moves on the dance floor or mingle and network with like-minded individuals while perusing some über-cool artwork, this unorthodox night out promises to be a not-to-be-missed calendar event.

While resident DJs keep the party pumping from beginning to end, the real highlight is the month’s guest artist. Every Boogie Boutique features a different, hot and happening act, and September’s guest performer is renowned Soweto-born beatmaker DJ Kenzhero. A regular feature on the airwaves – he’s played on Yfm, Tuks FM, MuthaFM.com – Kenzhero made a name for himself while dropping beats alongside local greats like Tumi & The Volume, Lebo Mashile, Blk Sonshine and Simphiwe Dana as well as headlining for bands like Freshlyground, Max Normal and The Goema Captains Of Cape Town. 

Aside from the live music, the lifestyle affair caters to hip-hop and street-style aficionados with an exclusive art installation.

Tickets are limited and pre-sold tickets are available via Computicket.com and Computicket outlets and cost R60p/p; tickets will also be obtainable at the door on the night (depending on availability) and cost R80p/p. Ladies get in free before 4pm.

A licensed on-site bar will be stocked to the brim with thirst-quenching and inebriating liquids, and if you’re in the mood to really let your hair down, you can purchase a bottle of your poison and get access to the VIP tables at the venue.
