Get into the spirit of the Festive Season this summer with some live family theatre entertainment. Janice Honeyman takes to the stage once again in her production Bangalory’s Back, which hits the Baxter Theatre Golden Arrow Studio from Wednesday, 9 December 2015 to Saturday, 9 January 2016.
Honeyman is a respected figure in the industry, having directed numerous award-winning shows and Bangalory’s Back is no exception. Bringing the magic of family entertainment to the Mother City, the production is ideally suited to children between five and twelve years of age, but almost everybody will enjoy the charming storyline.
The show combines music, comedy, puppetry and tale-telling in an interactive experience that encourages the audience to sing along and participate. Expect riddles, guessing games, jigsaw puzzles and dot-to-dots, as well as some of Honeyman’s short stories and colourful illustrations as part of the show. Besides Honeyman, the production features other performers, such as Zoleka Helesi and Marty Kintu.
“In the Bangalory Story shop we will pick each story from the twirling tell-tale tree,” says Honeyman. “It will be fast, fun, zany and sometimes even sad and touching. The shop will be decorated with mobiles, crafts, puppets, dolls and prompt props that suggest a space filled with stories. We hope to create a lovely sharing family experience so we’d love to see grandparents, parents and children attending. I would really like them to leave the auditorium feeling imaginatively stimulated so we will also throw in some selfies and signing after the performances.”
These shows are perfect school holiday activities. Treat your kids to a theatre production for some fun and adventure of a different kind, while you unwind in preparation for the Festive Season.
