Durban Hosted Best Formula 1 Racing Event of A1 Calendar

The South African A1 team received an award in China, for Durban pulling off the "Best Presented Event" of the A1 calendar.

The city's meticulous planning for, and superb hosting of, the South African leg of the A1 Grand Prix series has not gone unnoticed by the international A1 series management team and motorsport fans worldwide.

The South African A1 team received an award in Shanghai, China, for Durban pulling off the "Best Presented Event" of the A1 calendar.

And Durban was not the only South African winner. Speedster Stephen Simpson received the "Most Improved Driver" award, and business mogul and A1 GP seat holder Tokyo Sexwale won the "Most Supportive Franchisee" award.

City Manager Michael Sutcliffe said the award was well deserved given the difficulties the city surmounted to make the event a success.
