6 immersive themes, one being the best in Africa
The 2012 Heineken Symphonic Rocks concert – featuring frontman Ed Roland from the early 90s rock sensation Collective Soul – is back for a third, bigger and better performance; the show is scheduled for Saturday, 29 September 2012 at the Grand Arena GrandWest.
After two successful years in 2010 and 2011, Macstanley vocalist Andy Mac –the brains behind this cross-genre performance that pairs some of South Africa’s most talented musicians with a 65-piece orchestra - guarantees that this year’s line-up is truly something special.
“We wanted to really raise the bar for this year’s show, and while we’ve always had only top quality musicians in our line-up, having international rock royalty, like Ed Roland, on the bill just adds that extra something,” explains Andy.
If you’ve not had the pleasure of attending past performances, imagine the astounding vocals of award-winning artists across an entire spectrum of genres: rock, pop, adult contemporary, R&B, hip hop, electro and soul –backed by the richness and depth of a symphonic orchestra.
“Heineken Symphonic Rocks is a marriage between current cutting-edge music and the incredible pitch perfect depth and richness of a traditional orchestra. The collaboration produces an intensity of sound that has to be experienced to be believed,” Andy sums up in a nutshell.
John Walton – from the Cape Town Pops Orchestra - meticulously rearranged a playlist of almost 30 hit songs that will be performed by an extensive string section, full woodwind, brass and percussion sections.
Line-up for Symphonic Rocks 2012
