Make way for a new three-room hotspot on Harrington Street
Reg MacDonald (the man responsible for Aces ‘n Spades and The Village Idiot) has been very busy! When he is not joining forces with Jerry’s Burger Bar, Gavin Hagger and Jason Bakery’s Jason Lilley to form the new Villains Ale House on Hout Street (opening October 2016), he is teaming up Guy Wood and Durban surf stars Grant Twiggy Baker and Jordy Smith to take over the former The Assembly space transforming it into a 3-in-1 hotspot.
Although technically still one venue, the area has been divided up into three completely new and separate areas: a bar, lounge and nightclub.
1. District
This space will act as the events venue and nightclub area. Making use of world-class sound systems and brilliant lighting rigs to cater for electronic DJ scene and live bands, the smoking-friendly District will comprise a large dance floor and bar surrounded by plush leather booths.
Entrance: Constitution Street
Opening Hours: Weekend only (Friday and Saturday night and for large events.
Contact Number: +27 (0) 76 070 4474
2. Harringtons Cocktail Lounge
This upstairs stylish cocktail lounge and bar – which overlooks Harrington Street – will boast beautifully polished wooden accents, open windows, velvet bottle service booths, a smoking area and a boutique DJ set for late evening revelry.
Opening Hours: Wednesday to Saturday, 7pm onward.
Contact Number: +27 (0) 76 070 4474
3. SurfaRosa
Situated on the ground floor, this punk-styled neighbourhood bar opens up onto an outdoor patio and will have a small food offering available.
Opening Hours: Daily from 3pm
Contact Number: +27 (0) 76 070 4474
ALL THREE VENUES ARE SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN DECEMBER 2016.
