Meet South African puppeteer Craig Leo who has wowed audiences with his talent and skill in the performing arts. Craig performs around the world, and has even graced the Mother City’s Artscape Theatre with his exceptional talent.
1. How would you describe what you do for a living?
I’m a visual artist and performer. I dabble in production design, puppetry and circus arts.

2. What is your most vivid childhood memory?
My mother coming home from work every day. She was a beautiful, fierce, formidable woman and my friends were terrified of her.
3. If you could invite any three people, dead or alive, for dinner, who would they be and why?
Albert Einstein – To experience his sense of humour in person.
David Bowie – He was a childhood inspiration and once i heard his music, i knew that everything would be okay and everything made sense.
Jesus of Nazareth – For a gentle chat about the state of the world over a couple of bottles of wine.
4. If you ever found yourself auditioning for a music reality TV show, what song would you sing and why?
‘Keep Young and Beautiful’ - The Annie Lennox version. In a high falsetto. Because “it’s your duty to be beautiful”…and it’s not too long!
5. How would you complete this sentence?
The South African cabinet should include a Minister of ___________Ubuntu.
6. What would you say is the biggest misconception about you?
I have been told several times, long after the fact, that when some people first met me, they were a little afraid of me. Very odd!
7. What is your (honest) opinion of Cape Town?
It’s the most beautiful, surprising, exciting and boring (nothing wrong with boring at all!) place in the world. It depends on what you feel like and you can have it all in Cape Town.

8. What's the greatest fear you've had to overcome to get where you are today?
Fear itself.
9. What's the one thing you'd like to achieve before you die?
I’d like to see the Northern Lights.
10. Which well- known South African personality would you, without a doubt, be able to beat in a street fight and why?
I’m terrible, I don’t have a TV and wouldn’t recognise a South African celeb if they punched me on the nose, so I guess they’d knock me out every time. Besides I doubt I’d ever be able to have a street fight with anyone.
