Twenty more to run the Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon
A chance to run the event and support a worthy cause
Runners who missed the entry deadline for the Old Mutual Two Oceans half marathon will have the chance to secure one of 20 entries auctioned by the official event charity, Bobs for Good Foundation.
The popular annual race received 13 500 entries and an additional 2 000 entries were snapped up in just under two days. The auction, first introduced in 2009, will run from the 3rd until the 23rd of February 2011 and entries will open at R900. Winning bids, which will be announced the day after each bid, will receive a Puma product voucher worth R1 500.
"When entries closed in early January there were many disappointed runners who didn't get an entry," explains race director Ronwyn James, "This is way for us to help a few of them, while also raising funds for Bobs for Goods."
Local non-profit organisation Bobs for Goodwill donate a new pair of South African made leather school shoes to underprivileged learners valued at R100 each.
Look out for five trail run entries available from Monday 7th February until 11th February 2011 and ten ultra marathon entries available from 17th March until 26th March. The event office will also facilitate entry upgrades, downgrades and substitutions between 1st February and 16th March 2011. This is another way for participants to obtain an entry for the half marathon.
