Cape Town is Tops for Travel!

Cape Town, in South Africa is voted second best travel destination in the world

Cape Town has been voted the second best travel destination by the readers of lifestyle magazine Travel and Leisure. The magazine’s readers have once again confirmed what we at CapeTownMagazine have known all along.

Each year, travel magazine Travel & Leisure hold their “World’s Best” Awards, where readers vote for their choice for top global destinations as well as top hotels and resorts, and top travel agencies.

International travellers are beginning to give Cape Town its dues with the beautiful city taking top positions each year. Last year, Cape Town was voted 3rd Best City and this year the eternally popular Mother City of South Africa made it to 2nd place, just behind Udaipur, India.

Cape Town beat out popular travel destinations cities like New York City and Rome, who took the eighth and ninth spots respectively.

Travel & Leisure have posted a great feature article on Cape Town’s rising art and design scene which includes references to the ultra hip Neighbourgoods Market at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, the Whatiftheworld gallery and design studio and the cutting edge Grand Daddy hotel in Long Street.

Cape Town Tourism CEO, Mariette Du-toit Helmboldt says this is good news for the local tourism industry.

"Accolades like these are not just because of Cape Town's natural beauty and surroundings, but because of the high and exceptional standards maintained year on year by our hospitality industry.

" One thing’s for sure, we’re ecstatic to see that the world loves Cape Town just as much as we do!
