Voted as the number 1 city in the Top Cities in Africa and the Middle East category, the Mother City adds yet another feature to her decorated cap.
Last Updated July 7th, 2016
The Mother City has done it again!
That’s right, the city of Cape Town was named number one in the category Top Cities in Africa and the Middle East at the Travel + Leisure 2016 World’s Best Awards, which were held on Wednesday, 6 July 2016.
“Those of us who live in Cape Town tend to take the natural beauty of our city for granted. Such accolades make us appreciate our awesome surroundings once again. It is indeed humbling for all residents,” said Councillor Garreth Bloor, Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Events and Economic Development.
Cape Town is, of course, no stranger to scooping up awards: the Mother City was voted Best City in the World in the 2015/2016 Telegraph Travel Awards and was ranked as the number one food city in the world in Condé Nast’s Reader’s Choice Awards.
So it is clear that local and international folk alike are constantly blown away by the city's rich beauty and sheer natural splendours.
Don’t believe us? Of course you do! But here are 10 Incredible Photos That Prove Cape Town is the Most Beautiful Place on Earth anyway. Enjoy!
