What good is sitting alone in your room?
Come hear the music play
Life is a cabaret, old chum
Come to the cabaret
The rhythm of that song should be stuck in your head by now! Liza Minnelli is a living tribute to the glamourous stars of yesteryear. On Friday, 17 and Saturday, 18 November 2017 the Jan Royce Foundation in collaboration with the South African College of Music are hosting an evening of music dedicated to Liza Minnelli.
The event will feature four local singers taking on Liza’s biggest hits from throughout her career; from Best Foot Forward to New York, New York. Lara Frances, Tini Vorster, Mava Gqeba and Ian Gale will take audiences on an audio tour of the life of Liza Minnelli, with help from the musicians from the South African College of Music.
One half of the organising party, the Jan Royce Foundation also doubles as the charity benefactor. The foundation makes bursaries available to aspiring musicians and visual artists from across the country. Annually, they sponsor two students (one musician and one visual artist) to carry out their passion by studying further.
