Bree Street is one of the hottest streets in Cape Town with new places always popping up. This old-school takeout spot has smashburgers, animal fries, beers and gelato milkshakes, all served from a little hole-in-the-wall. Plus, it’s open until 11pm.

OLD-SCHOOL TAKEOUT SPOT 

Besides being a literal hole-in-the-wall, Burgers & Brews’ decor nods to an old-school takeout spot in retro fashion, with its red-tiled wall and white tables spread across on the cobblestone pavement. Your food isn’t brought out to you: It’s passed out a window in a paper bag.

AMERICAN-STYLE SMASHBURGERS  

What used to be Nish Nush is now home to American-style smashburgers. It’s a classic burger bun, two smashed halal beef patties, American cheddar cheese, pickles, onions and a secret sauce. 

On the side there’s Burgers & Brews’ take on the viral In-N-Out Burger’s animal fries (think skinny-cut fries covered in cheese, crispy lamb bacon bits, caramelised onions, pickles, and their secret sauce).

WITH DRAUGHTS AND GOURMET SHAKES 

For drinks, you’ve got the choice of a gelato milkshake in flavours like malva pudding, Snickers, turkish delight, Ferrero Rocher, pistachio or salted caramel. Or pair your burger with a Jack Black draught.
