The last of the Pop Up lunch 2016 series is expected to get all foodies hooked onto the fish-inspired menu created by renowned celebrity chef Bertus Basson. Hosted at Bottelary Hills Wine Route, wine enthusiasts are sure to be baited with this wine and dine experience on the 4th of December. The grill looks to provide an innovative culinary experience, even for those of us whose palates aren’t the most refined.
Chef Bertus is praised for his bold and creative flavouring and demonstrates his meticulous detail to texture and seasoning with every meal he serves. Each dish is delicately prepared over a blazing wood-fuelled flame and is complimented with a fine collection of award-winning wines from the Stellenbosch winelands.
As a prelude to your country-styled three course meal, Bottelary wines provide you with a few glasses of wine from the sub-routes of Stellenbosch Winelands. Whilst you quench your thirst you can discuss the ins-and-outs of the wine farms with the winemakers themselves. You are also able to order any of the wines you deem delicious enough to take home. Be warned; you might want to buy them all!
Because Bottelary Wines is nestled along the R304 and M23, it reveals an untapped source of quality wine to both wine enthusiasts and those who appreciate Cape heritage. It is home to some of the oldest wine farms in the country including the likes of Kaapzicht, Beyerskloof, Goede Hoop, Groenland, Hartenberg, Mooiplaas and Villiera.
The great charm of this sub wine route comes from the fact that most of the farms have been family-owned for many generations. This rich sense of history, commitment and family radiates in both the wines and the welcoming atmosphere of this area.
