Ever fantasised about watching old guys punch each other in the face? No? Now’s your chance, and it's all for a good cause.
On 16 November, African Pride Fighting Championship joins Contenders MMA to co-host the Ballie Beatdown at the Hope Street Hall, pitting boxers over the age of 35 against each other to raise funds for prostate and testicular cancer.
FIGHTING FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Champions, coaches and club owners (all men, all over 35) are coming together in the arena to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer. What's more, they're all growing moustaches in support of the Movember Foundation. This unique combo of combat sports, entertainment and charity is the first of its kind in South Africa, and organisers are hoping it will be a smash hit.
All funds raised are going to the South African Medical and Education (SAME) Foundation, which aims to provide healthcare and education to underprivileged communities, and the Movember Foundation, which creates awareness and support for male-dominated cancers, as well as mental health and suicide prevention.
STEP INTO THE RING
Watch professional Capetonian boxers and fighters go neck-on-neck in the ring. Head coach and co-owner of Pride Fighting Academy (PFA), Michael Mouneimne, is up against owner and head coach of Contenders MMA, Mike Goslett. Then there's a fight between Lloyd O'Ryan from PFA and Bruce van Rensburg from Samurai, as well as PFA fighter Erick Kaboja taking on Roy Botha from Contenders MMA.
If you want to sit within fists reach of the fighters, buy a ringside ticket for R300. General tickets are R200, and you can get them by calling Mike at +27 (0)82 660 2129 or sending an email to info@pridefightingacademy.com.
