Post & Pepper: Affordable fine dining in a historic space

It’s new. It’s chic. And it’s got loads of character. Post & Pepper is set in an old post-office building and is Stellenbosch’s latest  fine-dining spot – and what makes it especially fabulous is that it’s fine without being fussy.

This new gem opened its doors mid-February 2022. It’s located in a heritage building that’s 200 years old, and offers a casual fine-dining experience with delicious options that are surprisingly affordable.

DINE IN A HISTORICAL BUILDING

The restaurant is in the Oude Postkantoor (old post office) in the heart of Stellenbosch. This heritage building dates back to the early 1800s and has been newly renovated, while retaining a timeless charm and classy style.

The name Post & Pepper is inspired by the building’s history and the new flavour it has been given, and the logo is inspired by a classic post stamp.

TASTE LOCAL FARE WITH AN ASIAN INFLUENCE

Fancy some casual fine dining? Post & Pepper’s menu is quite affordable, making it a great choice for date night or dining out with friends. The dishes celebrate South African food, with a touch of Asian flavours. Everything on the menu is a must-try, so share a few plates. Try the Smoked Springbok or Crispy & Sticky Lamb, or  the Cape Malay Cauliflower or Crispy & Sticky tofu.

YOU’LL LOVE THE CHIC VIBES

The newly upgraded interior of Post & Pepper pays homage to the old post office by keeping the original windows and Cape Dutch style architecture, however, there’s a modern twist: The tables are wooden, and plush green booths and arched mirrors are set against the walls. It also exhibits a palm-leaf wallpaper that adds a stylish sense of fun.
