The Abe Opperman Gallery is showcasing its new winter exhibition until 30 August at the newly expanded Franschhoek gallery. If you’re unable to get there, you can also view the pieces from the latest collections We Are Never Alone, On Our Way To The Stars, and New Years Revolutions online.

A BIGGER SPACE FOR NEW IDEA
Artist Abe Opperman opened his third space in Franschhoek in 2019 following the success of his galleries in De Waterkant and Johannesburg. He extended the Franschhoek gallery at the beginning of July to “allow for new art and ideas”.
This location, although close to Cape Town, provides an alternative cultural context as well as expands the audience for Opperman’s original works, says curator of the galleries Ben Theron.

RELEASE YOUR INNER CHILD
Using mostly black and white, sometimes with possibly symbolic patches of colour, Opperman reflects the world through the eyes of his inner child and paints his unique encounters with the ordinary and extraordinary.
You will notice his love for certain things like flowers, trees, alluring landscapes, children at play and the complexity of human beings. “His longing to change our perspective back to child-like wonder is inherent within every piece of art,” says Theron.

The Franschhoek gallery is open every day from 10am to 3pm. The exhibition can also be viewed on the Abe Opperman website.
