New Year’s Eve Party at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch
Bid 2014 farewell and spend New Year’s Eve in Stellenbosch this year at the historic Spier Wine Farm in the Cape Winelands. The Boland-based farm is hosting a family-friendly NYE dinner and party with something for all ages. The evening starts off with a welcome drink and a snack before guests tuck into a three-course farm-to-table meal in a communal setting. A live band will provide some hip-swinging tunes, and a DJ will keep those feet going into the wee hours of the morning. While moms and pops party the night away, kids will be cared for by the childminders in an adjacent building where little ones can settle in and watch a movie; not to mention, the kiddies zone will also have a ‘Milk and Cookies’ bar.

New Year’s Eve Comedy Show & Party at Jou Ma Se Comedy Club
Laugh off all of 2014’s worries and blues at the New Year’s Eve comedy show and party at Jou Ma Se Comedy Club at the Pumphouse at the V&A Waterfront. Merrymakers can look forward to a side-splitting stand-up show of note featuring five comedians, including Mother City hostess with the mostess Mel Jones and much-loved up-and-comer KG (Kagiso Mokgadi). After all the giggles and guffaws, DJ Michael Lesar will drop heady beats to take revelers into the wee hours of the morning. While supper is not included in the ticket price, patrons can order off the a la carte menu, and the kitchen will be open until midnight; the cash bar will be open until 2am.

Nu World Eve New Year’s Eve Party at Vaudeville in Cape Town
By far one of the most affordable and super fun New Year’s Eve parties in the city centre, the Nu World Eve New Year’s Eve jol – brought to you by the founders of Balkanology and the Flamjangled Tea Party – invites revellers to get down (in costume) to a unique evening of wormhole jumping at the Time Travellers’ Ball at Vaudeville (otherwise known as Side Show) in Cape Town. With two dance floors, local beatmakers skilled in the art of jigerypokery as well as the New York-based ‘pan-awesome dance jam’ expert Thornato, this all-night “timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly” throwdown is the go-to option for those who’ve left plans to the last minute. Party kicks off at 9pm.

New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance at Hazendal Wine Estate
Dance and feast your way into the new year at the charmingly rustic and historical Hazendal Wine Estate’s Hermitage Restaurant in Stellenbosch. The Cape Winelands eatery is hosting a New Year’s Eve dinner and dance fit for the whole family and invites guests to indulge in an evening of farm-style magic and delicious honest fare. Kick-start the evening with a welcome cocktail and snacks beneath the centuries-old oak trees before tucking into a spit braai and seafood main course buffet. The Mother City’s sidewalks are set to sizzle this New Year’s Eve with Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town’s NYE Tropical Island Beach-themed street party. The red-hot soiree takes over New Church Street in front of the property and transforms it into a breezy paradise-meets-bumpin’ club. New Year’s Eve Street Festival in Cape Town
If open-air parties are your vibe, but you don’t want to mission too far away from the city centre, then this monster of a street bash is right up your alley! Catch all the EDM action across all genres at the New Year’s Eve Street Festival in Harrington Street and surrounds on Wednesday, 31 December 2014. Drum and bass enthusiasts can rejoice as renowned bass group Pendulum (DJ Set +Verse) will be gracing the Mother City’s shores once again. Otherwise, look out for a sizzling line-up made up of a mix of international and local DJs bringing deck-wrecking hits to eight different dance floors . Get those stomping shoes ready and dust off your festival gear for this epic new year jol – it runs until 6am!

New Year’s Eve at the Grande Roche Hotel
Indulge in a gastronomic seven-course dinner and celebrate New Year’s Eve in Paarl at the acclaimed Grande Roche Hotel's Bosman’s Restaurant. Situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, this contemporary fine dining eatery will take NYE guests on a journey of flavours that is sure to make for a memorable and festive occasion. Open Tap New Year’s Eve at Beerhouse
Bier, beer, ibhiye! No matter what you call it, the much-loved golden ale is a firm favourite, and Long Street ale mecca Beerhouse will be serving up lots of it to revellers’ delight at a New Year’s Eve party with a difference. Unlike most NYE celebrations (the ones that give you a mere opening cocktail with your ticket), this jol invites guests to purchase an Open Tap pass and pour as many pints as they can drink for the entire evening. 5FM New Year’s Eve Party in Cape Town
The folks at 5FM have decided to descend on the Mother City for a new year’s shindig that is set to be a showstopper. Hosted by Guess Jeans and featuring the likes of DJ Milkshake, Roger Goode and more, this jol unfolds at beachfront bar The Bungalow on Wednesday, 31 December 2014. Aside from grooving to the radio hosts’ big room beats, guests can get down to electro swing group GoodLuck or party into the wee hours with Dean Fuel. So break out your finest threads and prep those party attitudes for a night to remember.

New Year’s Eve Party at HQ Restaurant
Usher in the new calendar year at one of Cape Town city centre’s swankiest steakhouses, Headquarters (HQ) restaurant. With a night of dinner, dancing, bubbles and merry-making on the cards, the cutting edge, single concept eatery (only sirloin, salad and dessert is on the menu) looks to lend the start of 2015 a heady dose of style and ceremony. New Year’s Eve on Table Mountain
Treat yourself to a pre-New Year’s Eve celebration in Cape Town on Table Mountain and witness the final sunset of 2014 from atop one of the official ‘New7Wonders of Nature’. This majestic mountain offers merrymakers the perfect perch from which to soak up the beauty of the Mother City before heading out to see the clock strike midnight. The last trip up is at 8pm and the final car down departs at 9pm. The sun is scheduled to set at 8pm.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa
Ring in the new year in Camps Bay at the uber chic Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa’s Azure Restaurant. The 31-December jol starts at sunset with canapés, bubbly and live tunes – after which guests sit down for a scintillating six-course dinner. Then, diners will join in for the traditional NYE countdown with French Champagne and toast to 2015 before dancing into the wee hours to live music and a DJ in the Leopard Bar. Offering an international experience under one local Victorian roof, the Mother City institution is a particularly great place for foreigners to usher in 2014. New Year’s Eve at the Park Inn by Radisson Cape Town Foreshore 
Looking for a classy and stylish way to end off the new year? The folks at the ultra-hip Park Inn by Radisson Cape Town Foreshore are hosting two brilliant events to help you ring in 2015 with some proper pomp and circumstance. For one, there’s the opportunity to tuck into a swanky dinner at the modern and elegant Red Bar and Grill Restaurant (RBG), where guests can indulge in a lovely four-course meal while listening to some soothing live music. If having a boogie is more what you’ve been looking for, then get involved with the rooftop party on the Sunroof Terrace, which is located on the sky-high 11th floor. Here, yummy canapés will be circling and thumping beats from the resident DJ Shylo will set the tone for the evening. Looking for a fiery start to 2015? Then consider celebrating the end of 2014 and the beginning of the new year Latino style at the colourful Orinoco Restaurant. Passionate Venezuelan chef Migdalia Bellorin and the rest of the team at the authentic Latin American eatery invite guests to join them for an eclectic all-you-can-eat buffet jam-packed with a selection of tapas, mains and desserts. As is the case on a normal day at the vibrant city centre foodie spot, the cuisine on offer on New Year’s Eve takes cues from countries all across South America and beyond, from Argentina to Spain. New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day Kayaking Session with Kaskazi Kayaks in Cape Town
Opt for an alternative festive season activity and explore the Mother City from Table Bay’s crystal-like waters with a New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day paddling session with Kaskazi Kayaks. There are three time slots to choose from, and participants can either wave farewell to the final sunset of 2014 or say hello to the first sunrise of 2015 from the Cape’s Atlantic Ocean. This two-hour alternative festive season experience comes complete with a rest stop at The Radisson Blu Waterfront, where adventurers can sip on a warm/cold beverage. Though, since Kaskazi Kayaks is adamant about maintaining its 100% safety record, the route will change if the weather turns.

New Year’s Eve Dinner & Dance at Richard’s Supper Stage 
Say hello to 2015 in true Capetonian fashion at Richard’s Supper Stage. The musical revue restaurant is hosting an entertaining extravaganza with a four-course buffet meal and a special edition of the ‘Kaapse Stories from the Mother City’ show to make sure guests greet the new year with content bellies and jovial spirits. The spread includes Champagne and oysters on arrival and a main course of specially prepared crayfish, beef fillet, chicken and prawn curry (to name just a few). After the lively tale of the rainbow nation comes to an end, diners will be entertained by renowned magician Russell Fox and Richard’s resident jazz band. Rezonance New Year’s Eve Trance Party Cape Town
GERONIMO! Plunge into the new year with the epic big daddy of electronic dance music fiestas in the Mother City. That’s right folks, the much-anticipated psychedelic Rezonance NYE Festival, which is one of the biggest New Year’s trance parties in Cape Town, is back on the calendar to kick your 2015 into high gear. As always, the four-day jol goes down at Contermanskloof Farm in Durbanville, and organisers have scoured the country and the globe for only the hottest local psytrance, progressive, drum n bass, techno, chill and dub step acts – all of whom will drop beats across the four dance arenas from Wednesday, 31 December 2014 to Saturday, 3 January 2015. Expect camping out under the stars, stomping in the mud, overall fun, freedom and debauchery.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Dornier Bodega
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Stellenbosch and tuck into the decadent five-course menu at the Dornier Bodega Restaurant in the Boland Winelands. Set in a Cape Dutch-style barn, this charming eatery perfectly marries fresh farm-style cuisine with a modern twist and superb vinos for a taste experience like no other.

Toast to the start of the new year in Cape Town and party the night away to the sounds of South African icons Arno Carstens and Mango Groove. These two famous acts are billed to perform live in concert at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2014. Taking place beneath the starry night skies on scenic open lawns, the show invites audience members to bring along blankets, picnic baskets and bubbly, and usher in 2015 in laidback, sophisticated style.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Trees Restaurant
Those looking to bid farewell to 2014 with gourmet food and bubbly in an upmarket setting can have it all at the New Year’s Eve dinner at Trees Restaurant in the Townhouse Hotel. Patrons can choose between a two-course and four-course meal option, and guests will be welcomed into the venue with a glass of bubbly. The mouth-watering main course gives diners the chance to choose between lip-smacking West Coast crayfish and succulent biltong-crusted ostrich medallion. Either way though, bellies will be rumbling contentedly thanks to all the delightful goods on offer. Clubbers Campout: New Year’s Eve Edition #CCNYE14
Since entering the outdoor event music scene in March 2013, the Clubbers Campout series has established a loyal and growing fan base. Thus, this year, organisers have taken it upon themselves to give the last-minute party-goers and undecided New Year’s Eve revellers a solid five-day event to celebrate 2015. From Monday, 29 December 2014 to Friday, 2 January 2015, the NYE party returns to one of the Cape’s favourite party venues, the Circle of Dreams in Riviersonderend, and offers revelers a plethora of activities, acts, DJs and so much more. Teaming up with the festival experts behind the Vortex trance parties, the Clubbers Campout squad will ensure that the venue boasts all the amenities and comforts synonymous with the legendary psy festivals.

New Year’s Eve at The Taproom
It’s New Year’s Eve in Cape Town, and you want to do something but you’re just not sure what. Well, for all of you who are still undecided, here’s something that’ll be perfect for you. Get all your buds together and celebrate New Year’s Eve at The Devil’s Peak Brewing Company’s upmarket – yet down-to-earth – eatery, The Taproom. There’s no set menu, no expensive DJ or fancy trimmings, but what you can be sure of is that all your favourite menu items and the beer that makes this restaurant so special will be present and accounted for. There will be two sittings – one from 6pm to 8:30pm and another from 9pm to 1am – and kiddies are most welcome to attend the early sitting. And even though you won’t be seeing anyone drop beats, there will be music, and if you choose to attend the later session, there will be space made so you can bust a few moves.

New Year’s Eve Party at The Foreign Exchange Bar

Nik Rabinowitz’s Stand-up Comedy Show at the Fugard Theatre
Local funnyman and ‘the world’s leading Xhosa-speaking Jewish comedian’ is back with a brand new one-man show! Comedy fans can check out his latest offering, What the EFF?, at the Fugard Theatre on Wednesday, 31 December 2014 in the lead up to the big ball drop. Get ready to laugh at Mzansi’s collection of follies over the last year, from the antics of outspoken politicians to the recent loadshedding crisis. Meet Joe Barber New Year’s Eve Comedy Show at the Baxter Theatre
What better way to kick off the new year than with a laugh-a-minute stand-up show about true Cape Town culture. Giggle and guffaw into 2015 at the NYE rendition of the Meet Joe Barber comedy show at the Baxter Theatre. Of course, the latest incarnation of this adored mockumentary-style drama features the famous barbers, Boeta Joe and Boeta Gamat, as well as firm favourites, like Boeta Gamat’s nosey wife Washiela and the resident layabout Outjie, as well as some new and interesting characters.

New Year’s Eve at the Barnyard Theatre
Celebrate New Year’s Eve by singing along to summer tunes at the final musical tribute show of the annum at the Barnyard Theatre in Willowbridge. Billed as the ultimate audio-visual experience, this NYE show is best described as an incredible performance where ‘rock stars, Hollywood and Broadway collide!’. What better way to bid the year farewell than with a musical tribute that pays homage to the keepers of cool - think Def Leppard, Meat Loaf, Queen, Elton John, Joe Cocker and Cher - and the classic tracks from movies like Grease, Fame, Footloose and Dirty Dancing. This special New Year’s Eve performance includes a welcome drink and a snack pack, and the bar and restaurant will be open for revellers who want to celebrate afterward.

New Year's Eve Electric Vines Music Festival 
Usher in the new year with thumping beats, cool acoustics and a magnificent view at the inaugural Electric Vines Music Festival at the Arabella Wine Estate in the Robertson Valley from Tuesday, 30 December 2014 to Thursday, 1 January 2015. With a world-class line-up of local musical acts, one awesome Aussie headliner, beautiful surroundings and a kid-friendly atmosphere, the two-day affair has everyone covered. Camp underneath the stars or choose to live it up in the luxury VIP section.
Festival passes range from R600p/p – R2000p/p and can be bought online and at the gate. Kids pay R150p/p for a full festival pass. Single day passes are available online and at the gate for R300p/p and R500p/p respectively.

New Year’s Eve Pacha Ibiza Party at the Grand Café & Beach

New Year’s Eve Hi-Tec Sunset Hike in Stellenbosch
See the beauty of Mother Nature while ushering in the start of the new year with this family-friendly outdoor activity on Wednesday, 31 December 2014. This exciting New Year’s Eve sunset hike spans over 9.75-km, starting at the Dirtopia Trail Centre on the Delvera Farm and going all the way through the Renosterveld Conservancy and yellowwood forest to the top of Klapmutskop. The invigorating walk includes a refreshing glass of bubbly for thirsty adults and a juice for the little ones at the hill’s apex, where hikers can watch the sun dip down behind Table Mountain. Families can make an event of this by bringing along snacks and prepping a picnic to celebrate the new year. Those planning to attend the hike should bring along a torch (with fully charged batteries) and some warm clothes in anticipation of the possible evening chill.

Hot White New Year’s Eve Party at the All Star Theatre
Looking to countdown to 2015 with an old-school jam with thumping tunes and a classy theme? The Hot White New Year’s Eve Party at the All Star Theatre in Brackenfell has an awesome local line-up with some of the best in the biz entertaining you. Let heartthrobs ADAM and Take Note get the party started. Emcee and well-known triple threat Emo Adams will be keeping the crowd in stitches with his unique and brash sense of humour. Remember to dig up your finest white threads and then get set to dance the night away with groovy tunes worth remembering.
COST: Tickets to the event cost 240p/p and can be bought at the All Star Theatre or online at Patrons can bring their own food platters to the event, and a cash bar will be available.

Freshlyground & CTPO New Year’s Eve Concert in Paarl
Jive away to the Afro-pop stylings of Freshlyground and the classical sounds of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra at this outdoor New Year’s Eve event at the Nederburg Wine Farm on Wednesday, 31 December 2014. Join in and sing along to some of your favourite South African hits, like ‘Doo Be Doo’, ‘Potbelly’and ‘Fire is Low’, while you usher in the new year. The eight-piece will be performing signature songs and new material from their latest album, Take Me To The Dance.
