New Year’s Eve Party at HQ Restaurant
Usher in the new calendar year at one of Cape Town city centre’s swankiest steakhouses, Headquarters (HQ) restaurant. With a night of dinner, dancing, bubbles and merry-making on the cards, the cutting edge, single concept eatery (only sirloin, salad and dessert is on the menu) looks to lend the start of 2015 a heady dose of style and ceremony. A DJ will be stationed at the decks to drop festive beats, and a fully-stocked bar – Cubans included – will also be at your service. New Year’s Eve Dinner at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa
Ring in the new year in Camps Bay at the uber chic Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa’s Azure Restaurant. The 31-December jol starts at sunset with canapés, bubbly and live tunes – after which guests sit down for a scintillating six-course dinner. Then, diners will join in for the traditional NYE countdown with French Champagne and toast to 2015 before dancing into the wee hours to live music and a DJ in the Leopard Bar. For those looking for a post-dinner party, there is also an option to skip the feast and join in the merriment in the hotel bar.
COST: The six-course dinner costs R2200p/p (includes gratuity and French Champagne at 12am); drinks are for patrons own account. New Year’s Eve Dinner at Rick's Café Américain Restaurant & Bar
Say goodbye to 2014 with a fun and festive evening of dinner and dance at Rick’s Café Américain in Gardens. Offering an international experience under one local Victorian roof, the Mother City institution is a particularly great place for foreigners to usher in 2014. Party-goers can get into the celebratory swing with live tunes from a pianist, belly dancers and bopping beats from the resident DJ, a welcome cocktail, a platter of appetisers and an all-you-can-eat Moroccan-themed buffet of drool-worthy eats.

New Year’s Eve Dinner & Dance at Richard’s Supper Stage
Say hello to 2015 in true Capetonian fashion at Richard’s Supper Stage. The musical revue restaurant is hosting an entertaining extravaganza with a four-course buffet meal and a special edition of the ‘Kaapse Stories from the Mother City’ show to make sure guests greet the new year with content bellies and jovial spirits. The spread includes Champagne and oysters on arrival and a main course of specially prepared crayfish, beef fillet, chicken and prawn curry (to name just a few). After the lively tale of the rainbow nation comes to an end, diners will be entertained by renowned magician Russell Fox and Richard’s resident jazz band. Then, at midnight there will be a Kaapse Klopse (Cape Minstrels) procession to welcome 2015 in true local style. Afterwards, guests can dance the night away until the wee hours of the morning.

Rezonance New Year’s Eve Trance Party Cape Town
GERONIMO! Plunge into the new year with the epic big daddy of electronic dance music fiestas in the Mother City. That’s right folks, the much-anticipated psychedelic Rezonance NYE Festival, which is one of the biggest New Year’s trance parties in Cape Town, is back on the calendar to kick your 2015 into high gear. As always, the four-day jol goes down at Contermanskloof Farm in Durbanville, and organisers have scoured the country and the globe for only the hottest local psytrance, progressive, drum n bass, techno, chill and dub step acts – all of whom will drop beats across the four dance arenas from Wednesday, 31 December 2014 to Saturday, 3 January 2015. Expect camping out under the stars, stomping in the mud, overall fun, freedom and debauchery.
COST: Tickets are available online at Quicket.co.za and selected outlets and cost between R540p/p and R700p/p. Festivalgoers wanting to purchase their tickets online will be required to create a Quicket account and register to complete the purchasing process. Please note that early bird tickets have been sold out, and no festival day passes will be available.
New Year’s Eve Concert at Kirstenbosch
Toast to the start of the new year in Cape Town and party the night away to the sounds of South African icons Arno Carstens and Mango Groove. These two famous acts are billed to perform live in concert at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2014. Taking place beneath the starry night skies on scenic open lawns, the show invites audience members to bring along blankets, picnic baskets and bubbly, and usher in 2015 in laidback, sophisticated style.
COST: Tickets for the NYE Kirstenbosch concert are available via Webtickets.co.za or from the Kirstenbosch Ticket Office and will set you back R310p/p (all ages).
New Year’s Eve Dinner at Trees Restaurant
Those looking to bid farewell to 2014 with gourmet food and bubbly in an upmarket setting can have it all at the New Year’s Eve dinner at Trees Restaurant in the Townhouse Hotel. Patrons can choose between a two-course and four-course meal option, and guests will be welcomed into the venue with a glass of bubbly. The mouth-watering main course gives diners the chance to choose between lip-smacking West Coast crayfish and succulent biltong-crusted ostrich medallion. Either way though, bellies will be rumbling contentedly thanks to all the delightful goods on offer. And those who want to hit the town after can take solace in the fact that the Townhouse Hotel is an easy walk away from the CBD’s main clubs and bars.

Electric Vines Music Festival
Usher in the new year with thumping beats, cool acoustics and a magnificent view at the inaugural Electric Vines Music Festival at the Arabella Wine Estate in the Robertson Valley from Tuesday, 30 December 2014 to Thursday, 1 January 2015. With a world-class line-up of local musical acts, one awesome Aussie headliner, beautiful surroundings and a kid-friendly atmosphere, the two-day affair has everyone covered. Camp underneath the stars or choose to live it up in the luxury VIP section.
COST: Festival passes range from R600p/p – R2000p/p and can be bought online and at the gate. Kids pay R150p/p for a full festival pass. Single day passes are available online and at the gate for R300p/p and R500p/p respectively.
New Year’s Eve Hi-Tec Sunset Hike in Stellenbosch
See the beauty of Mother Nature while ushering in the start of the new year with this family-friendly outdoor activity on Wednesday, 31 December 2014. This exciting New Year’s Eve sunset hike spans over 9.75-km, starting at the Dirtopia Trail Centre on the Delvera Farm and going all the way through the Renosterveld Conservancy and yellowwood forest to the top of Klapmutskop. The invigorating walk includes a refreshing glass of bubbly for thirsty adults and a juice for the little ones at the hill’s apex, where hikers can watch the sun dip down behind Table Mountain. Families can make an event of this by bringing along snacks and prepping a picnic to celebrate the new year. Hot White New Year’s Eve Party at the All Star Theatre
Looking to countdown to 2015 with an old-school jam with thumping tunes and a classy theme? The Hot White New Year’s Eve Party at the All Star Theatre in Brackenfell has an awesome local line-up with some of the best in the biz entertaining you. Let heartthrobs ADAM and Take Note get the party started. Emcee and well-known triple threat Emo Adams will be keeping the crowd in stitches with his unique and brash sense of humour. Remember to dig up your finest white threads and then get set to dance the night away with groovy tunes worth remembering.
COST: Tickets to the event cost 240p/p and can be bought at the All Star Theatre or online at Allstarlive.co.za. Patrons can bring their own food platters to the event, and a cash bar will be available.
Freshlyground & CTPO New Year’s Eve Concert in Paarl
Jive away to the Afro-pop stylings of Freshlyground and the classical sounds of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra at this outdoor New Year’s Eve event at the Nederburg Wine Farm on Wednesday, 31 December 2014. Join in and sing along to some of your favourite South African hits, like ‘Doo Be Doo’, ‘Potbelly’and ‘Fire is Low’, while you usher in the new year. The eight-piece will be performing signature songs and new material from their latest album, Take Me To The Dance.
