New Year’s Eve 007 Party at HQ Restaurant
Where do suave super-spies spend New Year’s Eve? At one of Cape Town city centre’s swankiest steakhouses, Headquarters (HQ) restaurant, of course! New Year's Eve at the V&A Waterfront
Welcome 2016 with a bang at the V&A Waterfront’s annual New Year’s Eve bash and stunning firework display. With a programme packed with live music and street performers, this is one of the biggest New Year’s parties in the city. Expect to be dazzled by colours and a carnival atmosphere, as jugglers, buskers, Zip Zap Circus performers and floats wow onlookers. Rezonance New Year’s Eve Trance Party Cape Town
Plunge into the new year with the big daddy of electronic dance music fiestas in the Mother City. That’s right folks, the much-anticipated psychedelic Rezonance NYE Festival, which is one of the biggest New Year’s trance parties in Cape Town, is back on the calendar to kick your 2016 into high gear. As always, the four-day jol goes down at Contermanskloof Farm in Durbanville, and organisers have scoured the country and the globe for only the hottest local psytrance, progressive, drum n bass, techno, chill and dub step acts – all of whom will drop beats across the four dance arenas from Wednesday, 30 December 2015 to Saturday, 2 January 2016. New Year’s Eve Bond Celebration at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa
It would appear that Mr Bond is having a serious comeback in 2015 as the chic Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa’s Azure Restaurant is celebrating the New Year with a 007-inspired extravaganza. New Year’s Eve Comedy Show & Party at The Cape Town Comedy Club
Laugh off all of 2015’s worries and blues at the New Year’s Eve comedy show and party at The Cape Town Comedy Club at the Pumphouse at the V&A Waterfront. Merrymakers can look forward to a side-splitting stand-up show of note featuring five comedians, including the one and only Shimmy Isaacs as the headline act, supported by Devin Gray, Dalin Oliver and Lungelo Ndlovu. After all the giggles and guffaws, DJ Aaron will drop heady beats to take revelers into the wee hours of the morning. New Year’s Eve at the Barnyard Theatre

Laugh your way into 2016 with Cape Town’s very own king of comedy, Stuart Taylor. See the master comedian in action at this special performance of his latest three-person stand-up show at the Baxter Theatre. As the pilot of this flight of funny, Taylor, backed by Oscar Petersen and Mel Jones, examines the ups and downs of 2015 (the lowlights mainly attributed to Eskom), in a hilarious, refreshing and feel-good way. The performance earned the trio a Standard Bank Ovation Award for comedy at the 2015 National Arts Festival, so it’s definitely one to watch.

New Year’s Eve at Nederburg with the CTPO
This year, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra will be welcoming 2016 in style with a beautiful concert in the sophisticated surrounds of Nederburg Wine Farm. Known for its super sound, witty waiters and scrumptious cuisine, the locally-loved dinner-show establishment promises to be a shining light for New Year’s events, with a line-up jam-packed with top tunes. Start with Hello Dolly which includes Bellinis accompanied by a Shirley Temple (or two), followed by a chorus line of canapé selections. Next Stardust will rock you with their volcanic oyster, and then you can enjoy a tantalising cabaret of starters. Pop the Sweet Caroline into your mouth for a refreshing palate cleanser before indulging in mains fit for Lion Kings and Dancing Queens. Mamma Mia! Dessert time will follow, and then there’ll be a complimentary bottle of Desiderius sparkling wine to round off the appetising sing-song.

NYE with Beerhouse
What’s better than beer? Unlimited beer, of course! This year, Beerhouse is going all out to harken in the new year with a seriously boozy extravaganza with lekker lagers and every other type of brew. Celebrating the local beer industry, the Open Tap event will offer thirsty guests the opportunity to pour their own pints from five different beers on tap. Hop to the bright yellow building at 6pm to be there when the taps open. There will also be general admittance tickets giving guests access to the 99 bottles of beer, 25 taps, wine, spirits and other beverages offered at the cheery, beery establishment.
COST: Open Tap tickets cost R300p/p and are available from Quicket.co.za. A limited number of Early Bird tickets will also be on sale for R250p/p. General admittance tickets are R30p/p.
New Years at The Slug & Lettuce in Kloof Street
Nothing says New Year’s better than good food and fabulous good-mood inducing music. And that’s exactly what popular watering hole The Slug & Lettuce will be offering patrons on Thursday, 31 December, from 10pm until 2am. Whether you’re an 80s glam gal, a 90s wild child, a rock ‘n roll soul or a flower power peace lover, the DJs will be dropping all sorts of sweet tunes and one hit wonders, so there’ll be something to suit every special snowflake, regardless of how eclectic your taste may be. Speaking of taste, it’s worth noting that The Slug will be open on New Year’s Day, bringing double the trouble with a saucy two for one burger special on offer until 5pm! Dress up and head on down to funky town for big beats and New Year’s Eve treats.
