WDC 2014 New Year’s Eve Party at the Grand Parade
Join the City of Cape Town in ringing in the new year and celebrating the start of our metropolis’s reign as World Design Capital 2014 at a FREE dance party at the Grand Parade. In honour of the turn of the annum, the bustling town square will be transformed into a magnificent concert venue, and top performers – Toya Delazy, DJ Fresh, Trenton & Free Radical and more – will send off 2013 with sizzling tracks and serious beats. A fireworks display, dance acts and a 3-D light show tribute to Madiba are all part of the fun, and after, the Nagtroepe Malay Choirs will parade from Keizersgracht Street to the Bo-Kaap.

New Year’s Eve Party at The Piano Bar
Swing into 2014 and spend New Year’s Eve in Cape Town at soulful and sophisticated hotspot The Piano Bar in De Waterkant. Revellers can party the night away to the sounds of Gugulethu-born singer-songwriter Nina Stamper and her talented ensemble. What’s more, while party-goers sway to the sultry tunes of this local diva, they can sip on free bubbly and tuck into an assortment of scrumptious canapés that will make the round on the night.

New Year’s Eve Concert at Nederburg Wine Estate
Tap your feet to the beat of 2014 with South African Music Award-winning Afro-soul singer Lira and the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra at Nederburg’s annual New Year’s Eve concert in Paarl. Set on the sprawling lawns in front of the farm’s classic Dutch manor house, this NYE performance will feature popular tunes from the sultry singer as well as arias from rising classical stars, like award-winning tenor Makudupanyane Senaoana and talented soprano Janelle Visagie. So, say farewell to 2013 and celebrate the start of 2014 at this outdoor picnic and concert in the Cape Winelands.
Tickets: Tickets to this musical experience are available through Computicket.com and Computicket outlets and cost R250p/p for adults and R150p/p for children between 12 and 18 years of age; under-12s enter for free. Gates open at 6pm and the show starts at 9:30pm.

New Year’s Eve at Crystal Towers Restaurant
Ring in 2014 with style at the Crystal Towers Restaurant, which is hosting a New Year’s eve dinner and dance at the swanky Century City African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa. Guests will be treated to a sumptuous three-course dinner showcasing the eatery’s signature gourmet food and complimentary Champagne all night. After the meal, the party moves to the outside pool deck where there will be live music, truffles, candy floss and more bubbly to help welcome the new year with fun festivities.
Tickets: The three-course New Year’s dinner at Crystal Towers Restaurant costs R795p/p, which includes complimentary Champagne all night.  Guests who just want to join the party at the pool can book separately for R315p/p. Ibiza Calling New Year’s Eve Party in Cape Town
Seaside eatery and chill spot The Bungalow is set to transform into a party mecca for the Ibiza Calling New Year’s Eve party this year. Located on Clifton’s  Second Beach, the secluded spot will see top beat-makers, like Space Ibiza resident DJ Danny Marquez as well as 5FM jocks DJ Fresh, Rob Vember, Stephanie B and others, drop banging tunes and basslines on three different dance floors throughout the evening. Revellers can sip on pre-party cocktails and watch the last rays of 2013 set before heading to the main floor for an all-out, off-the-hook Mediterranean jol to top them all!

Nu World Eve New Year’s Eve Party
By far one of the most affordable New Year’s Eve parties in the city centre, the Nu World Eve New Year’s Eve jol – brought to you by the founders of Balkanology and the Flamjangled Tea Party and the people behind the Cape Town Carnival – invites revellers to get down (in costume) at a unique evening of swashbuckling pirates and parrots at the “port at the end of the world” located at the Founders Garden (behind Artscape). With amazing rigs to wow the crowds, fresh artisan food for munchies and a music line-up that promises to keep you dancing ‘til the clock strikes midnight, this all-night throw down is the go-to option for those who’ve left plans to the last minute.|
Tickets: Pre-sale tickets are R250p/p and are available from retail outlets, and general admission tickets are R260p/p via Webtickets.co.za. Tickets will be available at the gate and will cost R300p/p.

New Year’s Eve Party at The Foreign Exchange Bar
Get down in style and celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Southern Suburbs at The Foreign Exchange in Observatory. The eclectic nightlife spot is billed to host a Monte Carlo-themed shindig with a local DJ dropping banging basslines in this vibrantly-decorated venue. Party-goers are urged to dress the part (the theme is classy) and enjoy the complimentary snacks and bubbly throughout the evening.

New Year’s Eve Dinner & Dance at Richard’s Supper Stage
Say hello to 2014 in true Capetonian fashion at Richard’s Supper Stage. The musical revue restaurant is hosting an entertaining extravaganza with a four-course buffet meal and a special edition of the ‘Kaapse Stories from the Mother City’ show to make sure guests greet the new year with content bellies and jovial spirits. The spread includes Champagne and oysters on arrival, a main course of specially prepared crayfish, mussels and prawns (to name just a few) and typical South African desserts, like malva pudding, milk tart and koeksisters. After the lively tale of the rainbow nation comes to an end, diners will be entertained by world-renowned mentalist Larry Soffer and Richard’s resident jazz band. Then, at midnight there will be a Cape carnival procession to welcome 2014 in true local style. Afterwards, guests can dance the night away until the wee hours of the morning.

New Year’s Eve Party at HQ Restaurant
Usher in the new calendar year at one of Cape Town city centre’s swankiest steakhouses, Headquarters (HQ) restaurant. With a night of dinner, dancing, bubbles and merry-making on the cards, the cutting edge, single concept eatery (only sirloin, salad and dessert is on the menu) looks to lend the start of 2014 a heady dose of style and ceremony. DJ Jono’s on the decks, and a fully-stocked bar – Cubans included – is at your service.  Tickets cost R500p/p and include canapés, a glass of bubbly on arrival, a sparkling cocktail when the clock strikes midnight and a meal of sirloin, salad and dessert (a vegetarian option is available). Though, if you’re of the philosophy ‘eating is cheating’, a bar-only ticket is also available for R350p/p; this includes everything above except the meal.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Five Flies Restaurant
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Cape Town with a true sense of decorum at the storied Five Flies restaurant. Wine, dine and be merry at this historic Keerom Street fine dining spot and tuck into the mysterious four-course menu on offer. Though Executive Chef Dylan Jacobs is tight-lipped on what’s on offer, he did promise that revellers would be blown away by the meal! This handsome venue can cater to parties big and small, and a resident DJ will drop beats on the dance floor to ring in the new year! 
Tickets: Dinner costs R955p/p, which includes a bottle of Miss Molly bubbly for the table (two bottles for tables of 8 and more; additional drinks are for patrons’ own account). Dietary requirements must be stipulated when making the reservation. Do note that a 10% surcharge per table is applicable to all bookings, and pre–payment is essential to confirm the reservation; bookings can be made by calling +27 (0) 21 424 4442.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at African Pride 15 on Orange Hotel
Usher in 2014 with a sumptuous, satisfying New Year’s Eve dinner at African Pride 15 on Orange Hotel’s elegant Savour Restaurant. The eatery is serving up a simply tantalising seven-course set menu within its classy, contemporary interior, making sure guests enter the brand new year in style. So, if you’re up for a bit of swank and sophistication, there’s no better place for your midnight toast than Savour Restaurant.

New Year’s Eve Street Party at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town
Cape Town’s sidewalks are set to sizzle this New Year’s Eve with Protea Hotel Fire & Ice’s  NYE street party taking over New Church Street. This trendy inner-city inn offers merrymakers a unique and cosmopolitan spot to bid farewell to 2013 as well as an opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the city’s elite. Take the concept lifts from the rooftop jol down to the vibey street scene and dance the night away with top DJs at the helm to take you into the new year.
Tickets: Tickets to this NYE shindig can be bought at the door on the day or pre-booked by contacting laurent@theinspirationroom.co.za and costs vary according to ticket type. New Year’s Eve on Table Mountain
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Cape Town on Table Mountain and bid farewell to 2013 from atop one of the official New7Wonders of Nature. This majestic mountain offers merrymakers the perfect perch from which to see the annual fireworks display at the V&A Waterfront while the rest of the Mother City parties down below at its feet. The Table Mountain Café will be open until 12:30am for patrons looking for a late-night bite to eat, but revellers can also simply bring along their own picnics, bubbly and other booze to enjoy while the year counts down; do note that no alcohol from home will be allowed into the restaurant. The last cable car will ascend at 11pm and bring visitors down at 1am.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Mezepoli in Camps Bay
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Cape Town at the chic, Mediterranean-style restaurant Mezepoli along the popular Camps Bay beachfront. Saving patrons from mealtime paralysis, the Mezepoli team has put together a delectable set menu that promises to treat guests to a Hellenic-inspired NYE like no other. Sample the seafood delights – like the Yama sushi platter, prawns and calamari – and indulge in  traditional meze dishes, grilled fillet and chicken souvlaki; but don’t forget to leave some space, there’s a delightful dessert platter too. As you count down to 2014, cheers with a glass of ecologically inspired Graham Beck Brut. Please note that there is no kiddies menu available for the evening.

Electric New Year’s Eve Ball with Carl Cox at the CTICC
Looking for a hot jol to ring in the New Year in Cape Town? Well look no further, dance club legend Carl Cox is heading to the Mother City to headline the Electric New Year’s Eve Ball, an all-out NYE opskop at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). Known as the triple-deck master for his three-turntable approach, Cox set the tone in Cape Town clubs and beyond during the 80s and 90s with his iconic mixes, remixes and party tunes. While he’s the headline act for the NYE party, revellers can expect to see a slew of awesome beat-droppers and artists at this premier event.

Boomerang New Years Eve Party
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Cape Town at the much-anticipated party outdoor electronica festival of the year: the Boomerang New Year’s Eve Party – from 31 December 2013 to 2 January 2014. Known for its more intimate atmosphere (only 2000 are admitted) and vibrant energy, this New Year’s jol is definitely one for the books; aside from an enchanting venue (the party calls the West Coast Ostrich Ranch home), the epic three-day throw-down features international acts. Those attending can look forward to break-neck beats and tricked out visuals.

New Year’s Eve Concert at Kirstenbosch
Toast to the start of the new year in Cape Town and party the night away to the sounds of dynamic duo Goldfish, acoustic guitar maestro Yoav and songtress Tailor. This eclectic trio is billed to perform live in concert at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2013. Taking place under starry night skies on scenic open lawns, the show invites audience members to bring along blankets, picnic baskets and bubbly, and usher in 2014 in laidback sophisticated style.
Tickets: Tickets for the NYE Kirstenbosch concert are available via Webtickets.co.za or from the Kirstenbosch Ticket Office and will set you back R290p/p (all ages). 

Rezonance New Year’s Eve Party Cape Town
The psychedelic Rezonance NYE Festival is one of the biggest New Year’s parties happening in Cape Town over the festive season. Once again, the three-day electronic extravaganza will feature top local acts and showcase multiple genres, including psytrance, progressive, drum n bass, techno, chill, dub step and  breaks, across four dance arenas. . Expect camping out under the stars, stomping in the mud and overall fun and freedom.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Rick’s Café Américain
Say goodbye to 2013 with a fun and festive dinner and dance at Rick’s Café Américain in Gardens. Offering an international experience under one local Victorian roof, the Mother City Institution is a particularly great place for foreigners to usher in 2014.Party-goers can get into the celebratory swing  with live jazz by The Alan Cameron Duo, bopping beats from the resident DJ, a welcome cocktail and a shot of chilled tequila (on the house).  And to make sure all stomachs are well lined, the cover charge includes a drool-worthy appetiser platter. Rick’s extensive and impressive à la carte menu will also be available, as will some seasonal specials.

New Year’s Eve at the Barnyard Theatre
Celebrate New Year’s Eve by singing along to summer tunes at the musical tribute show at the Barnyard Theatre in Willowbridge. Billed as the ultimate beach party, Surf’s Up draws on the biggest, sunshine-y hits from both decades passed and the true-blue present to put on an entertaining, unforgettable show. What better way to bid the year farewell than with a musical tribute that   pays homage to the good-time guardians: think The Beach Boys, Mango Groove, Katy Perry and the classic tracks from the movie Grease. This special New Year’s Eve performance includes a welcome drink and a snack pack,  and the bar and restaurant will be open for revellers who want to celebrate afterward.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Dornier Bodega Restaurant
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Stellenbosch and tuck into a decadent five-course menu at Dornier Bodega restaurant in the Cape Winelands. Set in a historic Cape Dutch-style barn, this Winelands eatery perfectly marries fresh farm cuisine that’s been given a modern twist with superb vino for a taste experience like no other.

New Year’s Eve Pacha Ibiza Party at the Grand Café & Beach
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Cape Town in style with an island-style jam at the Pacha Ibiza party held at the Grand Café & Beach in Granger Bay. Set on the private shores of this well-loved oceanfront Mother City eatery-cum-club, the end-of-year jol, which brings the famous Spanish nightclub’s legendary summer soiree to Cape Town, offers socialites and hedonists the chance to experience the vibes of the Mediterranean party mecca without even having to board a plane.

New Year’s Eve at the Rocky Horror Show at the Fugard Theatre
Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Cape Town singing along to ‘Time Warp’ and other classics at the Rocky Horror Show’s final performance for 2013 at Fugard Theatre. Forego the regular jols, dinners and celebrations this year and say hello to 2014 with the talented performers at this kitsch classic. The show kicks off just before 10pm, and the last curtain call sees actors and audience members alike countdown to the new year. What’s more, patrons are encouraged to dress up and purchase participation packs (they cost a mere R20p/p) to make this once-in-a-lifetime experience a night to remember!
