Shamwari offers four-day wilderness trails through the African wilderness, where two nights are spent in the bush and last nights in the base camp. It is a remarkable experience, in which you will learn a great deal about African wildlife, spores, vegetation and Africa itself.

The overnight hiking trail through the private game reserve is remarkable in many ways. Of course because of the stunning surroundings but also because you are not required to have sleeping bags, backpacks, camping equipment or extensive hiking experience. An all-inclusive trail fee covers all camping equipment, food, and transport from the base facility where you will spend your first night.

Camping in the African wilderness is kept simple in open bush. You won't feel closer to African nature than this.

Shamwari operates their wilderness trails with a concern for minimum impact. Therefore there is a maximum of 8 people per hiking trail.

From Port Elizabeth travel along the N2 towards Grahamstown for approximately 65kms. Take the Paterson off-ramp (R342), continue for a further 7kms turning right at the Shamwari sign.
