The annual Waterblommetjie Festival is back again in 2017, and this time it’s set to be bigger and better than ever! The event is taking place at Rhebokskloof Wine Estate in Paarl on Saturday, 2 September 2017 from 8am to 4pm.
The festival will boast a multitude of activities that the whole family can enjoy. However, the leading lady of this year’s festival will of course be the waterblommetjie herself. The organisers have ensured that these little natural gems will be incorporated into the best gourmet dishes prepared by local chefs and even thrown into a few scrumptious cocktails!

Here are a few things to look forward to at the Waterblommetjie Festival at Rhebokskloof Wine Estate in Paarl:
FIVE REASONS TO HEAD TO PAARL FOR THE WATERBLOMMETJIE FESTIVAL THIS YEAR
Food, Glorious Food: As we have said before, the quickest way to get a festival started is by making sure the foodie offerings will be off the chain. The Waterblommetjie festival will feature artisan food producers as well as specialist waterblommetjie dishes that will best showcase the humble ‘water flower’. There will also be an oyster stand for those that adore these fruits de la mer.
It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere: No festival would be complete without wine, and this festival is going down in the heart of the Winelands, so you know there’s going to be enough vino to go around! But, did you know that the festival is offering Shiraz on tap and waterblommetjie gin cocktails? Oh, and MCC to accompany those oysters? Yes please!
Games A-Plenty: Parents be warned, the kids are in real danger of never wanting to leave the kiddies play area because it promises to be amazing! The little ones will be kept entertained with face painting, pony rides, bouncy castles and even zorbing. For those that don’t know what zorbing is, it’s when you get in a big inflatable ball and run around; like a hamster ball for humans.
The Hills Are Alive with the Sound of Music: Cliche, but true. During the festival (between 10am and 4pm) guests will be serenaded and soothed by local musicians. A bit of background music never killed anyone, except maybe a cartoon character here and there, so don’t stress if it isn’t your chosen genre; have another gin cocktail and I’m sure you’ll start to enjoy it!

Lekker and Local: The festival will also showcase the produce best of local food, wine and craft producers,. Between 9am and 4pm, there will be a pop-up shop for the guests to peruse (and purchase!) nice things. .
TICKETS TO THE 2017 WATERBLOMMETJIE FESTIVAL IN PAARL
As an entrance fee, the organisers are asking that guests bring one tin of food (per car) which they will donate to the Haven Night Shelter in Paarl. If you have any questions or queries, please contact the organisers directly on +27 (0)21 862 6190 or drop an email to info@rhebokskloof.co.za.
