Cape Town’s first waste free market is finally here and taking place at the Mill Café in Wynberg. Waste Free ZA will have loads of local vendors whose products are all environmentally friendly and sustainable. Plus, snacks such as pizza, coffee and other drinks will be on offer all morning for you to enjoy while you browse.
LOCAL, SUSTAINABLE AND ECO FRIENDLY
The Waste Free Market ZA has expanded nationwide in their effort to support small businesses and save the environment. “The intention of the market is to support small local businesses in our community that are doing amazing things, while also promoting products that are sustainable” says Naomi Bear, the founder of the Waste Free Market ZA. “Our market is unique in that each stall holder is environmentally friendly and conscious, in their design and production process, as well as in their packaging and even market display.”
NOT A BIN IN SIGHT
“We don’t have bins at our market as we don’t have anything being sold that would need to be thrown away,” Naomi told us. “It’s amazing to watch our market attendees find it quite easy to enjoy themselves at such a market. They hardly even notice the “extra effort” in not throwing things away and not having things in wrappers for example”.
ENJOY A SNACK WHILE YOU DO YOUR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
If you’re feeling hungry there’s a whole range of pizzas, baked goods, a variety of jams and fresh produce to buy. All of these products are handmade with love and use eco-friendly packaging. Take your time to really find some of the market's hidden gems from second-hand clothing, potted plants and tote bags to jewellery and delicious-smelling soaps.
GET THERE EARLY FOR THE BEST GOODIES
The market will run from 8am-12pm on Saturday 14 November and entrance is free. To have your stall featured, fill out this form.
