Discover Cape Town’s beloved artisan choc-coffee shop
We all love chocolate a whole lot more than we should and there is no better place to spend our hard earned rands than on Honest Chocolates artisanal treats. We have shamelessly sat at this quaint cafe, within the city centre, and indulged in an abundance of the dark chocolate nibbles offered. So naturally we have an extensive list of suggestions for all our sweet-toothed readers.
Before settling down in the divine courtyard outside(part of the original building) or in the cosy inner cafe you’ll be delighted to know that you will be savouring the finest organic cacao. As well as enjoying products which are preservative free, have no artificial flavours or emulsifiers - expect a guilt-free chocolate feast as there is no dairy or cane sugar added.

There is a strong focus on using local and organic ingredients as well as aiming to support local small-scale food producers. You’ll also be thrilled to know that there are both vegan and gluten free options, as well as good old fashioned eggs, butter and flour baked goods. Now for the important part - what to order?
Let’s take it from the top. We loved the coconut dream drink. The creamy hot chocolate is sinfully delicious and can be ordered in two different ways; short and dark or tall and milky. You can also choose between a classic Mexican spicy or Christmas Orange version which both come with House-Made Vanilla Bean Marshmallows.

For your main dish you can choose the Banana Bread ‘BUNNY CHOW’. This is a banana bread mini loaf filled with chocolate spread, ice cream and spiced nuts on the side. This treat only costs R48 while the vegan option is R55. Mouth watering yet? Yes, we thought so!
Then there is the Nachos and Chocolate Guacamole; our favourite vegan and gluten-free dish. Crispy salted nachos with a rich and creamy chocolate guacamole, which can be substituted with a chocolate spread of your choice, and comes with chilli on the side. This all for R38.
Going in for a sweet finish? Our advice- tuck into everything and anything! From chocolate cake to brownies you will not be disappointed. We’re certain you’ll have to fight the urge to nap but rest assured, you'll be happier than a pigeon with a french fry.

We love that there are chocolate option for vegan, gluten-free patrons as well as traditional desserts.
Tip: Go with a group of people so that you can have a little nibble of everything!
Note: There is only street parking available.
