Sample the fruits of one of Stellenbosch’s most lauded sub-regions and rub shoulders with the area’s most respected winemakers at the ninth annual Taste the Helderberg food and wine affair at NH The Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West on Thursday, 15 June 2017. An opportunity for wine lovers to sample over 100 wines and indulge in a hearty selection of fine fare from a number of restaurants, this one-night only extravaganza is definitely worth diarising. Remember everyone that Friday, 16 June 2017 is Youth Day and so you’ll have the day off! Yay!

“Here in the Helderberg we enjoy life and it tastes delicious! This diverse sub-route of the Stellenbosch Wine Routes is certainly hip and happening and it is its sensory soul that we invite people to come and savour at Taste the Helderberg,” shares Elmarie Rabe, Manager of the Stellenbosch Wine Route.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2017 TASTE THE HELDERBERG FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL
SWIRL AND SIP HELDERBERG’S FINEST: Home to some of South Africa’s oldest wineries and the province’s most prized vineyards, the well-established wine region will showcase reds, whites and MCCs from over 25 estates: from well-known stalwarts to modern boutique wineries, traditional family-owned estates and the pioneers of eco-conscious winemaking. What’s more, true connoisseurs have the rare opportunity to chat to some of the region’s cellar masters about their distinctive methods and philosophies.
DECADENT GOURMET FARE: Those keen to fill their bellies as well as wet their whistle will be happy to know that many of the region’s fine dining restaurants will also be present and accounted for. Each eatery’s head chef is set to whip up lip-smacking tasting portions of signature dishes.
DINNER AT THE NH THE LORD CHARLES: Festival-goers can utilise the chill areas at the hotel during the show, and the hotel restaurant is open for reservations on the night. Pre-booking is essential, so be sure to reserve your spot well in advance.

TICKETS FOR THE 2017 TASTE THE HELDERBERG FOOD AND WINE SHOW
Only a limited number of tickets are available as organisers want to keep this an intimate and meaningful affair. Tickets cost R100p/p and can either be pre-booked via WineRoute.co.za or purchased at the door on the day (if any are left!). Wine tasting samples and a branded tasting glass are included in the ticket price. For more information, contact +27 (0)21 886 8275. The event runs from 5pm to 9pm.
