The Mother City’s football club’s head coach resigns with immediate effect.
Last Updated: 27 October 2016
Roger De Sa’s decision to step down as head coach of Ajax Cape Town comes after a string of loses.
Wednesday (26 October 2016) night’s defeat to Bidvest Wits left the head coach with no choice but to part ways with the club he’s grown apart of. In his time at Ajax Cape Town, De Sa led the team to a major trophy in seven years, winning the MTN8 Finals and ending fifth in the league. However, the tune is different this year. Ajax is yet to register a win this season, languishing at the bottom of the log.
In a recent club statement, De Sa thanked management and the players for their support during his two and a half years at the club: “I’ve enjoyed every minute of my job especially working with such a youthful squad. I personally think we are on the verge of winning ways but the results have not gone our way. I’d like to wish everyone, especially the fantastic supporters, all the success that this club deserves.”
The club is yet to appoint a new head coach.
