Rick’s Café Américain’s Weekly Lunch Specials
Pop over to the charming Casablanca-themed restaurant for a hearty meal that won’t break the bank
Rick’s Café Américain is a local favourite, with the vibrant hues of the interior adding to a very casual and comfortable atmosphere. The staff are dedicated to making you feel at home and you can look forward to melt-in-your-mouth meals at reasonable prices. Housed in a beautiful Victorian building dating back over a century, this Casablanca-themed eatery has become something of a local institution. Together with satisfying customers by fulfilling their culinary needs, owner Per Menkö conceptualises a weekly pocket-friendly and palate-pleasing lunch menu.
“Every week [the dishes] will change and there will be something different. It will be the best we can offer for R75,” says Per, who is a seasoned chef.
Every Monday to Friday from 12pm to 3pm, you can pop into Rick’s Cafe for a power lunch with a colleague, or enjoy an alfresco meal on the sun-soaked rooftop deck or along the street-side dining area. The special is fare pulled from the café’s Moroccan-inspired menu, combined with seasonal produce and unique creations to surprise the regulars. Diners can look forward to everything from Hungarian pork goulash with homemade spaetzle and Moroccan spiced chicken skewers on cous cous, to tasty vegetarian burgers and spaghetti frutti de mare with mussels, calamari, linefish and spicy pomodoro sauce.
The new menu is released every Friday for the following week. To stay in the know about each week’s special follow the @RicksCafeCT Twitter account.
Dine outside for a picturesque view of Table Mountain and Signal Hill, or grab a table inside where you can warm up near three (yes, three!) open fireplaces.
When it comes to pairing the specially curated lunch with drinks, guests will have no problem doing so as the café boasts one of the most impressive beverage lists in the Mother City – all in all there are over 600 different drink options! Think everything from colourful cocktails and rare gins to lagers and ales from around the world. For those in the mood for something warm and toasty, there’s even Glühwein to thaw you from the inside out.
Do take note that Rick’s also runs a happy hour special from 3pm to 7pm every day (even Saturday), so late-lunchers can make the most of the overlapping offers. Rick’s is also running a warming winter special that foodies can take advantage of while the weather is still a little frosty.
