I’m sure you‘ve heard about the Rhubarb Room. Located in Bo-Kaap for three years, it moved to Bree Street in April 2011. Co-owners Lauren Marshall and Soné Jacobs want to inspire Capetonians and shoppers alike to make their homes more beautiful. Both love and have spent some time in France and share French-inspired beauty with you in their lifestyle-store.

"I grew up with beautiful things around me" says co-owner Lauren. The name Rhubarb Room came from the former building and home in Bo-Kaap which had a rhubarb color. The Rhubarb room offers you both local and European flair.

The focus: gifts, café and clothing

When you’re thinking about re-decorating your home, you’re right here. Everything you see is for sale. You will find decorations, prints, jewellery, furniture, champagne coolers, accessories, stationary, card designs, wrapping paper, cushions, ceramics, clothing, fabrics, ribbons, French wine glasses, napkins, wall art, vintage stuff, natural bath and body products, beautiful baby stuff like blankets, hot water bottle covers and much more.

The products change with season and special occasions (Christmas, Valentines Day etc.). Make sure to stay a little longer for some homemade soup, fresh cakes, coffee, tea and a chat.

"I want you to feel as if you’re sitting in my home."

says Lauren. This is a homey place indeed and a nice spot for a baby shower, a kitchen tea, small corporate events and launches.

The next step will be Lauren offering interior advice for homes, I’m sure she’ll do a beautiful job.
