The world loves Pinotage so much that there's even a day dedicated to it. On Saturday 13 October 2018, Lanzerac Wine Estate in Stellenbosch is hosting their contribution to the day of appreciation with a wine-filled fiesta that will tickle your taste buds.
Lanzerac Wine Estate, nestled at the base of the Jonkershoek Valley, was founded in 1692 and holds plenty of Cape heritage. The estate boasts old oak trees, manicured gardens, pristine vineyards and Cape Dutch houses. Their estate houses a spa, hotel, tasting room, restaurant and various function halls.

On International Pinotage Day, Lanzerac has arranged a variety of activities for guests to enjoy. You will be able to sip, swirl and sample Lanzerac’s sensational Pinotage and their Pinotage Rosé.
The private tastings on the day will be presented by the wine estate’s cellar master Wynand Lategan and viticulturist Danie Malherbe. They will take you on joyous journeys through two options.
The first option is a Pinotage tasting that showcases the many flavours that complement the unique characteristics of a Pinotage wine.
Time: 09:30am–10:30am/12:30pm–13:30pm
Price: R150 per person
The second option is a secret tasting to delight those with a more discerning palate. The details of this exclusive tasting will only be shared with the participants the day before.
Time: 11am–12pm
Price: R200 per person
Each tasting will accommodate a maximum of 15 guests. Bookings are essential.

The day will inevitably come to an end, but that doesn’t mean celebrating Pinotage has to. For International Pinotage Day, you’ll be able to take home a bottle of Lanzerac Pinotage for 20% less than the normal price. What a bargain! You’ll also get 10% off on all other estate wines over the Pinotage Day weekend.
You can look forward to tucking into something delicious beneath the leafy oaks of the estate’s tasting room and deli courtyard. Some of the temptations include Pinotage-glazed lamb burgers, Pinotage-cured biltong (South African cured beef), fresh oysters that pair beautifully with the Lanzerac Pinotage Rosé as well as Chef Stephen Fraser’s moreish Pinotage meat platters. The children can grab cheeseburgers and mini boerewors rolls. The wine station setup in the courtyard means that you can savour your favourite Lanzerac wine to the sounds of the dynamic musical duo, Acoustic Element.

TICKETS TO THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL PINOTAGE DAY CELEBRATION AT LANZERAC WINE ESTATE IN STELLENBOSCH
There is no charge to attend the International Pinotage Day celebrations at Lanzerac, but the tastings and the picnic baskets incur a separate cost. The tastings are charged per person, as detailed above. If you’d like to reserve a space at a tasting, please contact the organisers directly on +27 (0)21 887 1132 or email them on winesales@lanzerac.co.za.
