Want to organise a family photoshoot? It’s expensive right? Well the women behind Pic-4-Pads are giving you a chance to get one and make beautiful memories, and the trade-off is simply a pack of sanitary pads. They’re bringing their initiative to Zwaanswyk High School on 23 February 2019.
THE MAIN ATTRACTION
Pic-4-Pads have chosen the perfect scenic spot and are bringing in a professional photographer, with props, to snap photos of you and your family. One pack of pads gets you two shots … the more packets of pads you bring, the more pics you get, so bring lots and make a photoshoot of it. Also, note that panties and women's sanitary are welcome too.
WHILE YOU WAIT
Photoshoots take time, so while you wait for your chance in front of the camera, grab a bite to eat and more from the market stalls available. There will be food stalls, cake stalls, jewellery and hair threading where you can beautify yourself while you wait. The kids have a jumping castle, face painting and a sports field to play on, with volunteers on hand to ensure they have fun and stay safe.
MORE THAN PICS AND PADS
Although the initiative’s goal is collecting pads for underprivileged girls, it is also aimed at teaching kids about the importance of charity. “The goal is to make children aware of the importance of giving and helping,” says Ronelle Prins, from Closing The Book, the organisation responsible for Pic-4-Pads .“It's important to teach children that not everyone has everything they need, and it’s good to help when this is the case.”
WHO BENEFITS FROM THIS
At the moment, seven schools from Khayelitsha to Grassy Park and a mission group called Glow, Grow and Go receive donations from Pic-4-Pads. Closing The Book are planning to grow this network as the event gains momentum.
