What's on at the Artscape April 2024: A series of short opera shows by Cape Town Opera.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The city’s newest opera voices, led by one of UCT and Cape Town Opera’s most dedicated new-talent coaches and pianists, performing Puccini, Donizetti, Mozart and Strauss live in a park in Wynberg. Experience it with loved ones under the stars at Opera In The Park at Maynardville Open-Air Theatre on Sunday 10 February 2019.

Part of the Maynardville Open Air Theatre’s Sunday evening sunset concert series, this is an awesome way to end your weekend. Arrive from 6:30 pm to enjoy your picnic on the lawn before the concert starts at 7:45 pm.
CAPE TOWN’S BRIGHTEST OPERA TALENT
The Cape Town Opera Young Artist Training Programme is a two-year training programme that gives graduate singers the opportunity to refine their technique and stage skills before launching professional careers.

Cape Town Opera’s first performance at Maynardville presents the best and brightest Young Artists and celebrated pianist José Dias performing music from Puccini, Donizetti, Mozart, Strauss in the open-air amphitheatre.

LED BY ONE OF THE CITY’S MOST DEDICATED PIANISTS
José Dias is a Portuguese-born Stellenbosch-trained pianist who graduated cum laude no less. He’s one of the city’s most active coaches of new talent. He lectures at UCT and his first job was as a coach for Cape Town Opera, all the while being a performer. He’s travelled the world and has worked with some big names (he just got back from a tour in Lisbon).
MAYNARDVILLE OPEN-AIR THEATRE
Situated in a green wooded park, the open-air theatre offers over 700 chairs for guests. There are a few restaurants across the road, but the tradition is to bring a picnic and some wine to enjoy on your blanket on the lawn right next to the theatre before the concert.
Every year, the open-air theatre hosts live performances of theatre, ballet, orchestra, comedy and more under the stars.
