Santana Concerts in South Africa

Legendary guitarist heads to Mzansi for the first time to play three shows in 2014

Afro-Latin-blues-rock shaman Carlos Santana is officially confirmed to make a three-performance debut on South African soil this February and March 2014 with his unbelievable supporting band. The first two shows are scheduled to rock the GrandWest Casino in Cape Town, and the remaining evening of entertainment settles in at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium.

  • Saturday, 1 March 2014: FNB Stadium in Johannesburg

The groundbreaking world music pioneer and Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer has been in the game for over forty years, has sold more than 100 million records and has collected 10 Grammy Awards. Though most famous for his 1999 album “Supernatural” and its singles ‘Smooth’ and ‘Maria Maria’, Santana has been making waves since his 1969 appearance at the original Woodstock festival.

Aside from the Rolling Stones, he’s the only act to score a top-10 album on the Billboard charts in every decade since the 60s, and he’s also already been endowed with the Billboard Latin Music Awards ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.

Most recently, he released the instrumental album “Shape Shifter” (2012), which was just yet another testament to the fact that the fourth-generation virtuoso still has years left of brilliance to bring to the world.

Needless to say, South Africans are in for a much-awaited treat when the legendary guitarist takes to the stage.
