Opening of Gondwana Game Reserve close to Cape Town and Garden Route

New Gondwana Game Reserve to become a natural Big Five Safari on South Africa's Garden Route

A new Big Five game reserve will recreate the definition of a safari experience. Gondwana Game Reserve says it will be the "First natural Big Five safari destination in the Western Cape."

Located 45km west from George in the
Western Cape and 15km from Mossel Bay on the Indian Ocean, Gondwana Game Reserve will be set on 7 500ha of dramatic terrain consisting of open grass plains, indigenous Fynbos and undulating valleys surrounded by the Outeniqua Mountains, very different to any other safari destination in South Africa.

Gondwana looks to be offering a remote
setting yet accessible to the Garden Route and only 3.5 hours from Cape Town, malaria-free and has a moderate climate all year round.

T
he reserve has a variety of flowers blooming throughout the year, creating a continuously varying and striking landscape attracting endemic species of birds and butterflies.

The Big Five will be introduced to Gondwana Game Reserve before opening in November 2008.

Opening Date: 1 November 2008

1000 head of game already introduced including endangered Cape Mountain Zebra, Grey Rhebok, Kudu, Red Hartebeest, Springbok and Eland.

The first lodge in the reserve will be called Fynbos Camp, with 25 superior rooms and 10 deluxe suites facing a valley.

Rooms will overlook two waterholes and across the valley towards the Outeniqua Mountains.

Molo Says:
