Bella Ev in Muizenberg

Ottoman-inspired restaurant and guesthouse in Cape Town

Tucked away on Camp Road, this incredible 122-year-old villa has opened its exquisite doors to those with a penchant for fine food and beautiful surroundings. The Ottoman house, as it’s known, has given guests the chance to experience a turkish-inspired meal under gorgeous bright pink bougainvillaea with views of tapestry-clad walls and the lovely mountains behind you.

The location of this quaint restaurant is right next to one of Cape Town’s oldest synagogues. Walking up the entrance of Bella Ev, you will stroll past the Star of David on your right, a stunning ottoman-inspired canvas underneath your feet and in front of you, you’ll look straight into colourful material hanging from the walls.

The intimate setting is ideal for brunch with friends - especially if you order the speciality egg souffle that is prepared in-house. The light texture of the dish is fabulous for mid-morning breakfast, along with the marvellous taste of the turkish tea - you will definitely be satisfied for the rest of your day.

The enjoyment of sitting at a place such as Bella Ev comes from not only the food served but the meticulous detail to every inch of the establishment. The sophisticated spot gives you a dining experience which you can marvel in for days to come, especially if you catch a glimpse of Kerime Sinclair - the owner and founder of the establishment - who will provide you with ample quips about the origin of the food and how the establishment came about with her warm and vibrant personality.

Having a conversation with one of the soulful individuals you are bound to meet, will warm your heart. Each person who either works at the establishment or is a frequent guest there speaks of the cherished memories of the venue, and of the history behind it - especially since you are indulging in cakes such as the Russian or Ukrainian cakes which are served!

If your dining-experience was just too fabulous and you are not ready to leave the wonder that is Bella Ev, stay the night! The establishment is also a divine guesthouse where you are welcome to book a room at. The vibrant colours in every room are simply gorgeous. The attention to detail will make your stay memorable, with a guarantee to enjoy delicious meals, and yes… there is more turkish coffee!

Fun fact about the cups that your coffee is served in - if you or a friend are trained in reading your future with tea leaves of coffee - then bring them here. Once you have gulped down your coffee turn the cup around and wait for the bottom of the cup to be cold. Once cold turn it around and the way the remaining coffee has run down will be how you read it. Fascinating - we know!

Bella Ev is centrally located in the heart of historic Muizenberg. It is a short walk from Muizenberg beach and St. James. It is a five-minute drive from Kalk Bay, Westlake, Lakeside, Capricorn Business Park, Westlake Business Park and the American Embassy.

We love the turkish tea!
Tip: Try the Ukrainian cake with a cup of Turkish coffee- it will curb any sweet craving you have!
Note: Bring along someone who can read your future!
